I mean, if I were to announce to everyone that I'm going to invest in stocks as a strong woman, and all I do is upload footage of me walking around the New York Stock Exchange making a complete ass of myself, I'm not going to inspire little girls around the world. Not only would little girls not give a shit about stock investment (let alone LoL tournaments), but I'd just end up showing everyone that women suck at investments and do the complete opposite of what I set out to achieve. They should just drop this stupid crusade and try finding a solution to a problem they're creating. Guys won't care about whatever characteristics the players have so why can't women celebrate that they're being viewed equally among men?

Somehow I feel like girl gamers who are genuinely good at the game choose not to publicize themselves all over the media, because they don't feel the need to. Generally speaking, "girl gamers" in general who try to make themselves known are low elo players who use their gender and their boobs as a selling point. This is what gives actual female gamers a bad rep. It's kind of sad actually

The Esports scene is based on skill, not color or gender. This is why we don't see many pro female gaming teams because not many of them have interest in participating in the scene, and most of them haven't reached a high skill level to compete against the best. Team Siren were girly girls and nothing wrong with that but their sponsors who made the trailer tried to make them into bad asses. The promotional was a hit piece against a male dominated scene and their agenda caused these girls to catch hell from the community. Not only that as the video said, none of these females were competing at a high level and yet they were given sponsorship's based on the fact that they were female. So how is it that guys have to grind it out to earn their way into sponsorship's and other deals while these girls are just given one based on their gender? They couldn't take the pressure and couldn't get along with one another, so that says a lot. I give them credit for continuing to play the game after the team broke up, so it shows they have passion for the game and its not just some get rich quick scheme for them. Except Yunnie though, since she trashed in the game she decides to rely on her looks and her body in Lewd photography to get ahead, smh....

Trung Nguyen there is no difference between men and women in terms of skill, but since there are less women going into gaming, there is less chance of producing a pro-level female player than producing a pro-level male player. Women aren’t biologically disadvantaged in video games, however sports is a different can of worms.

And compared to the male pros they suck. Not surprising really, the average reaction time of a guy is lower than a girl's and CS:GO needs you to have roughly 200ms or lower to even be capable of reaching pro level. point being I and many others can never reach pro level no matter what due to our reaction times and that goes even worse for girls. Take an all star team of males and put them against an all star team of females, guys would win the majority of times.
@chopperhead20126 жыл бұрын
I feel so bad for these girls. The lowest solo win rate among them is 58% which is immense. But this is what happens when you make a team based on identity instead of something that actually matters such as merit or synergy. They obviously didn't play well as a team. I guarantee you they would all be fine matches on separate teams. But making an all girl team for the sake of having an all girl team is almost gimmicky.

Absolute Zerø I mean, whether if it is because girls are less encouraged/less welcome in different gaming communities or real skill differences, I don't know. There could be many factors. Games are also targeted more towards a male audience, and guys tend like video games more than gals. I wouldn't jump to conclusions, but I can understand what you're saying :)
@ThunderonCZ6 жыл бұрын
Mens willingness to give up absolutely everything for gaming might be factor too. These pros eat and breathe LoL all day long. Regardless on how it affects their social life. They don't care that they if they don't have gf, they don't care if parents hate them, they don't care if they miss school as long as they play the game. Women need some kind of social interactions in their life more. They are on average more agreeable than men so they want to avoid direct conflicts. So completely destroying their family and friends relationships over video game is not worth it for them. And at the end of the day if they really loved the game and really wanted to be the best they would stick around.
@zuzannanils6 жыл бұрын
Well, in some cases, you're right but you throw all the women in a drawer like that. I personally know a few women who live the game just like men. I'm not saying that you are not right.I just want to say that you should not throw a whole gender in a drawer. I am very bad in League and I am a woman. Ranks do not really matter to me in games, but to my bf is very important. I have a lot of girlfriends who like in your examples play very much in the game and live it. Sometimes, nothing else matters to them but the game. You do not need to offend me or portray me as a feminist. And I think the need of social interactions depends on the people not the gender.
@ThunderonCZ6 жыл бұрын
I was reacting more to the post before. I think this "women are less encouraged" argument is silly. Most professional gamers were discouraged by their parents in the beginning and they still proceed to play and compete. Anyway do these girlfriends compete? I think one thing is to play casually MMO all day and be competitive. Do they play the game even when they don't feel like it? Do they regularly visit tournaments? Are they studying the boring but important side of the game? Do they believe that they can become best (at least locally)? Do they strive to be the best? Because when we talk about the best top players thats how they play and think.

All of which are competitive (except tf2) If there were a majority of women playing esports, they would be represented. Women are 51% of the population and tend to be born more. Majority of men like video games, while women like doing other things. There is nothing wrong with that. This is actually a fallacy. *A lot* of people could be *on the cusp* of being good enough to be a pro in *any* form of competition if they dedicated their lives to it. But you either need some innate talent, start from a very young age, or sacrifice *everything else* to be a *really good pro* (and even then it's not guaranteed). This is why choosing sports (or any other form of competition) as your *career* is usually a *terrible* idea. Even in less popular and less crowded competitions, there are literally hundreds or even thousands of unknown "semi-pros" who can barely scrape by on ramen noodles and odd jobs while persuing their competitive careers.

Men exist at both extremes of intelligence more than woman, and woman make up more of an "average". As a simplistic example, woman's IQ range is 90-110, where men's is 80-120. There are reasons why most of the players are men, women in general are less into computer games overall, and so, as the proportion of pro players is very small, and the proportion of female players is comparatively big(,to proplayers) but still small to the hole playerbase, it would be very strange for there to be women in the higher echelons of competitive play. Plus here there is no affirmative action to help, so to be high up there you need to work yourself to the top instead of being elevated by the laws and regulations.
@Seriona15 жыл бұрын
Actually the real reason why women are not into video games is that video games for the most part involve competition or combat. Men have to have some kind of combat skill because if we don't, the pack doesn't get feed or to live hence why we are so heavy into sports and/or video games, it trains our animal side to stay alert in the animal world. Women while need some form of natural combat since they directly shelter the kid, normally don't need it to survive so the animal side works more for the auxiliary roles in the pack which would explain why most female gamers avoid direct roles. No one will admit this because we've been trained to think we are somehow outside evolution.

here's another nail in your coffin, back then. dia/plat is on par with today's masters/chall. masters/chall didn't exist back then. diamond was challenger.
@Frikgeek7 жыл бұрын
No. challenger was introduced with the introduction of the LP system in Season 3. There was no diamond in S1, no challenger in S2, and no master in S3. Diamond back then was roughly equal to diamond now, aside from D1 which took the place of master. D1 was a huge grind, with LP wins and losses being heavily reduced to house everyone from rank 1500 to rank 50. You'd generally get +/-3 LP per game. D1 25LP would be like D1 100 LP now, with anything over 30 being like master 0 LP. D1 95 lp+ would be like challenger, there were always at least 100 players 'stuck' at D1 99LP and getting +0 every win because their MMR wasn't higher than the #50 player in challenger. So if you were plat back then you were roughly equal to a plat player right now, same for diamond aside from D1.
@AzraelJiraco7 жыл бұрын
I have to side with Frikgeek. Only a small portion of Diamond 1 players were good enough to be separated as Challengers when the tier was introduced. Take it from me, Challenger players trounce us Diamond players all the time.

I dont play or follow league but i kinda understard the hate. It a group pop UP and claim they Will make it big in you sport even when dont having the needed skills their are insulting your hobby or even lifestyle. Pro players go for a lot to reach where they are and a team claming their are in Equal ground just because they special feature Is that they are women Is in fact insulting. Like Lets flip this. A guy make a video telling he can defeat the world female box champion just because he Is a man and some Time he fights some matchs as His local gym and he win 60% of the time. See the problem?
@chrismorris68653 жыл бұрын
I don't have any hate for any of them, but I get why trolls jumped on that promo video and Siren as a whole. The promo video was most likely made by people who had no clue what League of Legends even was, so I don't blame the girls themselves for how cringey it turned out, they even seemed to know how bad it was. It was a mix of 1. a girl power message 2. cringey content and 3. a lack of the amount of skill needed to prevent mockery and those factors combined to make Team Siren into the LoL equivalent of throwing a limbless gazelle into a den of starving lions, especially considering the toxicity that is League's fanbase.

As a girl gamer, I can honestly say there was something very distasteful about these women. It seemed there was more emphasis on them being women than being gamers, which is distracting and counter intuitive. I'm all for girl power and female empowerment, but it would seem an emphasis on being a gamer that happens to be women serves their purpose better. The whole point is to prove you're worthy and belong by just belonging. I find that that attitude demands respect much more than riding the "I'm a girl" wave. It's the same with metal bands for example. If you're a kick ass artist and you're a girl, you're respected (minus assholes). If you're like "look at me, I'm a girl" and it's literally all you talk about, it's hard to respect you. Just my opinion.

There are a lot, Solo Queue and Pro Play is almost entirely different, Solo Queue you have to be extremely good to get at the top and in Pro Play you don't need the mechanical skills, you just need to have synergy; Apollo is a shit adc in Solo Queue but plays extremely well in LCS, Duke wasn't a really good player but he still won worlds with SKT.
@yankochoynev6527 жыл бұрын
there are 200 challenger players in each region. I'm not sure how many of them are female but let's say for the sake of the argument that they are 20 (more likely there are zero, but since allegedly 10% of the playerbase is female I'll give them 10%). Out of these 20 people you need to find one for each role. Since we all know girls play support only, it will be hard to find players to fill the other positions. Let's imagine there are enough challenger women to form a team, all roles filled. What are the chances all of them actually want to join a team, and if they join, what are the chances that all 5 people will get along with each other.

I don't understand the idea that females have to play support, I don't play this game but in the games I do play I always play some sort of long range dps. I hate being a healer, it means I have to constantly monitor everyone else's health bar, fuck that I'll choose tank over healer any day.

@@Zoe.m. Support dosen't always = healer alot of "Tanks" in video games especially MOBAs are considered a support class since theyre role isint made to do alot of damage but to disrupt the enemy team and make it easier for theyre teamates to get kills. In my gaming experience and that includes MMOs,MOBAs and tabletop rpgs most female player will go between range dps or a healer. "Sometimes" a tank VERY rarely a Melee DPS or a Utility Class. Any types of archer is usually 7/10 what I see female players main. Edit: Also note there is alot of "attack supports" the big diffrent between em with dps class is they don't escalated in dmg..theyre still lethal just not the main damage

So apparently throwing 5 random solo queue players together with a low average rank compared to the rest of the competitive scene is a bad idea. Gotcha. Two of my girl friends are in low to mid masters every season and saw siren as a fucking joke and a cringe fest. They were 5 typical egirls who saw dollar signs. (Not my words, quoting other girls)

CLG wanted to replace Pobelter with HuHi as starting midlaner, Pob doesn't want to be subtitute and wanted to leave CLG if he doesn't get the starting roster, Peter supports Pob, saying it will be a mistake and that Pobelter is much better with the current team, CLG ignores Peter and Pob, both became unhappy, CLG had to make a decision, whether to continue having Pob as midlaner and consequently makes Peter happy.. Or lose Peter and Pob as well...they went with the latter...All the while, Aphromoo, being the captain of the team, has to support the CLG management, that's why there was a conflict between Aphro and Dlift at one point but now they're all friends again

Yeah for whatever reason females just don't seem to see games the same way their counter parts do and just can't put in the crazy dedication the others do and the ones that do play games all the time always tend to be weird and not actually good. Just isn't going to happen. Especially a team good enough to beat Asian teams.
