The story of the six blind men and the elephant

It was said that six blind men heard that a large elephant would be brought to their town on the occasion of the annual celebration, so the six went to the ruler of the town and asked him to allow them to touch the elephant for the first time in their lives. They always hear about the elephant and its size, but they never imagined its shape. The ruler did not object at all, except that I split for that purpose that each one of them describe the elephant in one sentence, and on the day of the celebration, in the presence of the townspeople, the six men surrounded the elephant and each one of them began to touch it, and after they finished examining the elephant, each one described the elephant in front of the ruler. And in the presence of a large crowd of the public, the description came as follows:
- The first said: The elephant is closest to the rope.
- The second said in astonishment: Where is the elephant and where is the rope? It is just like a wall.
- The third laughed and then said: What an absurdity, a rope and a wall!!! How is this and the elephant does not come out of being a big dagger.
- And the fourth said sarcastically: What you say is nonsense, and what people say about the enormity of the elephant is also nonsense. I was longing to know the elephant and was shocked when I found it just a non-poisonous fat snake.
The fifth said sarcastically: What is all this nonsense, the elephant is a hand fan made of leather!!
And the sixth said, laughing: Oh heavens...did a sect of Satan touch you?! You seem to have touched something other than an elephant, for an elephant is nothing more than the trunk of a tree.
While each of the six described the elephant, everyone in the place was giggling loudly, mocking the strange descriptions of the elephant, except for the ruler, who was listening with complete listening and great reverence. Everyone calmed down. The ruler said to everyone:
“Why are you mocking the six blind men? All of them are honest in describing the part of the elephant that he touched. The first said that the elephant is like a rope because it only touched the tail, and the second said that the elephant is like a wall because it only touched the body. The third said that the elephant is like a dagger because it touched the tusk, and the fourth said That the elephant is like a snake because it touched the trunk, and the fifth said that the elephant is like a fan because it touched one of the ears, and the last one said that the elephant is like the trunk of a tree because it touched the foot.”
Thus, every person of the six got a part of the truth, and the only mistake they made was that they did not wait to know the whole truth, and we also, without exception, fall into this mistake a lot. We attack those who oppose him and fight other opinions, simply because we did not encompass the truth in all its aspects.”
After the people heard the words of the wise ruler, they lowered their heads out of shame, and remained silent for a long time.
