I raced with USA in 1989 and was beat out of Rookie of the Year by Frankie Kerr. I have many fond memories from that year traveling with Mark, Steve, Sammy, Dave and all the rest of them. That was my Rookie year in a Sprint Car too. My dad always had the philosophy that you had to run with the best to learn to be the best. It is sad that it is almost impossible to find a USA race from 1989 anywhere on youtube. The race at Hutchingson, KS is the only one that I have ever been able to find. Kenny French

I dont see the new series as much of a threat to the WoO so much so that I've already purchased my tickets for the season finally at Charlotte. Im optimistic that this show will be as awesome and exciting as the show in 2022 was. I enjoy sprints, late models and modifieds and always plan my fall vacation around them being there.

Great show. Recent 410 winged fan, followed Larson over when he ran a huge schedule while on sabbatical from stock cars. When I went to World of Outlaw shows where Kyle was not allowed to sell merch I was surprised they didn't embrace the guy bringing so many of the new fans in. When they tried to tamp down High Limit I was a bit angered they would try to stop drivers from another Payday and fans more opportunities to watch the top drivers. I now go to events even if Larson is not going to be there, but I go a little farther to see High Limit and enjoyed the show at Lincoln Park speedway.

Steve had him well covered until he jumped my right rear going down the front stretch that day. I have watched the video many times, and I still say that I was maintaining as straight line when that happened.

I was there for the first of 2 NST dates at Selinsgrove. Even got a Steve Kinser NST shirt. That series had the potential to be a good series, but like you said, the demise was when Fred Brownfield was killed.

I was at the USA races at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, TX. I liked that track but always felt Big H Speedway on the other side of Houston was a better track.

Now that was cool! I remember 1989 as a race fan but was not completely aware of all that was going on with the WoO and other entities attempting to take over. That’s a cool little history lesson. Thank you and outstanding job!

Fred Brownfield was a force of nature. Having both Fred and Stevie Beitler mentoring me. I can say this with complete conviction. Fred would have put the NST into the premier dominant national position of sprint car racing. Fred was a racer and passed on the raceway. Thanks for the history lesson. That was cool. Also the shoutout to Bobby Davis Jr. and that Casey Luna #10. I still have his signed sweatshirt I got at Hanford in '89.

WoO has the history and name recognition. Gonna be hard to dethrone them. Likewise, the NFL has survived numerous challenges starting with the AFL, USFL, XFL, etc.

pretty sure at one time, all of the boundless assets were seized. want to say 04 or 05. It was a mess. I'm foggy on the details, however there were some photos floating around the interwebz but this was 20 years ago so they are long gone... I can remember having the Richard petty group photo with all those drivers from like November or December 2005 too. it died so, so, quickly. amazing how quick NST was out together. Went a show at davenport and it was first class... Also I'd argue as a kid who grew up at Knoxville 2006 was the greatest season ever at the Marion county fairgrounds. Guys dropped in all the time, since Cappy and the fairboard did not have any sanctioned WoO or NST races. There was a night in may 15-20 cars broke don droud jr's track record, ultimately being the WoO member Brooke Tatnell.

Very cool show today. I knew Fred and he was poised to really do something big before his untimely death. He had already established a very successful regional series. One correction Fred did not own Greys Harbor but was the promoter there. Greys Harbor is a fair grounds track. Before that he promoted Skagit for 2 years and had made many wonderful capital improvements. Steve Bietler took over and purchased the track from the ownership group and since Fred was just leasing it that left Fred without a track so he then promoted Greys Harbor.
