The stopping power of a .40 and .45 is a million times better than a .22 or .25 or .32 or 380 or 9mm. You don't want a .22 in a gun fight and a .40 or .45 would blow big ass holes in you. If a .22 was far superior law enforcement would carry .22 but they don't they carry .40s&w for a reason.
