The Strange Disappearance of Sarah Stern

In December 2016 Sarah Stern disappeared from New Jersey. Her car was found abandoned on a bridge, but no sign of her. Sarah Stern's best friend's Liam McAtasney and Preston Taylor helped out, but a month later wouldn't a friend remember something Liam McAtasney had told him, about a woman and a bridge. And wouldn't Sarah Stern just happen to be rich.

In some ways more disturbing than a serial killer. He kills a long time friend, in a brutal and very personal way, for what he thinks is $100k and talks about it like it was nothing. If he wasn't caught, she wasn't the last person he would've killed

He also talks like he blames her for the bad state of the money and the small amount of it(I mean too small for him) and that it took too long for her to suffocate like that's fucked up

"I don't feel any different. And I don't think about it. " Chilling. I absolutely hate thinking about his name being her last word. The cold way he discusses killing her and the vicious way he pantomimes choking her with the shirt is absolutely the definition of monstrous. I don't feel that word really applies in a lot of situations people use it in, but my God, it just doesn't get more monstrous. This thing is not human, whatever it is.

That is very true. I am acquainted with someone who has a friend who recently came into around 2 million dollars. This friend told my acquaintance about the money but gave the instruction that no one who knew them was to ever be told about that windfall. The friend of my acquaintance did not even want family members to know that sort of money had been received. When I first heard this I thought perhaps my acquaintance's friend was a bit paranoid but after hearing this story I think what I took for paranoia might just be an extraordinarily good case of common sense. If no one knows about the 2 millions dollars no one will ever start begging for help in paying the mortgage or help in purchasing a new car or, more importantly, the friend will never have to worry that a relative or "friend" will try to murder my acquaintance's friend to try to get their hands on some of that money. I of course am deliberately vague because I don't want to give any hints that would allow someone to figure out who the recipient of the windfall might be. I wish that recipient well and would tell the recipient, continue being very very careful! BTW, don't you just love the new "we thought we were auditioning for a new reality TV show" defense that sleazy attorneys have started coming up with? This is the defense that Dalia Dippolito came up with, eventually. I just loved it when she and her lawyer came up with the reality TV show defense. They just waited too long for that to be anywhere near believable. When she was being interrogated at the police station would have been a really good time for her to tell the cops, "No, you guys have it all wrong. I said all those things but Mike and I were trying out for a new reality TV show." Or when they paraded Mike past the room where she was being held and she started commanding, "Mike, Come here. COME HERE!" that too would have been a good time for her to have said, "Mike, tell them this was all about a reality TV show. They think I was serious." Mysteriously, she didn't say anything like that to Mike. And the monster who came up with the plan to murder Sarah for her money sure took his good old Southern time deciding that none of his confession was actually true but was just an audition for a reality TV show. Give me a break! This monster needs to NEVER get out of prison. If he can commit a murder this diabolical at his young age I shudder to think of what he will come up with when he reaches the age of 45 or 50. The judge needs to see that he NEVER NEVER NEVER gets out of prison.

Yes, no doubt he would have done it again. No doubt. It sticks with you if you do it, from what serial killers have said, and you will tell yourself "just one more time" months, years, maybe decades down the road. I couldn't imagine ... I still feel bad about "feeling like a man" for hunting small animals with a BB gun when I was growing up in the South, and I'm 42 now. There's no doubt he loved torturing animals and later his victim - there's no doubt he looked up how to break necks, hang efficiently and all that and went for the longest way he could go. There's no doubt this was about more than just the money, or else he would have tied her up and tortured until he made sure he could secure every dollar of it. The money was a secondary bonus and was the part that actually DID seem rehearsed about his confession. My bet is that it was something that served as an excuse to do what he may have been wanting to do for a while to her but that she had been denying to him. The whole stuffing a shirt down the throat to get them to not throw up thing is something he got right off of John Wayne Gacy (or at least his movie) and it is no doubt the death was deliberately slow for sexual reasons on his part. I guarantee you that if they found her body, they'd find out that he did more than just strangling her. These guys always get off on this, and he did, too - before and after. The only reason they can't find her is because the one thing he is ashamed about is what he did to her AFTER she was dead. Bastards like this always, always, always sink to that level of degeneracy. This was about more than the money.

Thank you for making this video. Sarah is my friend. I only knew Sarah for a year and a half but she became such a close friend right away for me. We met through the KZbin community going to see Grace Helbig and Mamrie Hart and Hannah Hart at one of their shows in NYC. I last saw her when we went to a book signing in Ridgewood, NJ for Hannah Hart October 2016. I drove up and we had so much fun together. Sarah was going on and on about the web series Carmilla, she loved that series with such a passion. I have a degree in art history and Sarah was a great artist so we had planned to go museum hoping after Christmas. I couldn’t wait to get her artist perspective on works of art in the museums. I’ll forever cherish our way too short friendship. I remember finding out that she was officially dead and I just sobbed in my room all day. Me and our other KZbin friends and her close friends and family were robbed of a great person from our lives. I was so mad that such a heinous and disgusting person could just take away someone like Sarah. I look back at the fun things I was able to do with Sarah and I’m so happy for those memories and times. But I also grieve for what more our friendship could’ve been. I grieve for the life she could’ve lead and had. Sarah was killed on my 29th birthday, December 2, 2016. I’ll forever feel guilty that I was going to ask her to come to the city with me and I decided not to so I could spend the day with just my mom. I could’ve at least have given her one more day to talk to her dad or maybe she’d still be alive, those 2 shitheads could’ve just robbed her house instead of killing and robbing her. I never saw the part of the that bastards confession of how he killed her. That broke my heart into a million pieces. Sarah was a bubbly, outgoing person with a ton of excited energy to spare. She’s forever in my thoughts.

Out of all the videos I watched on this channel, this one actually had a lesson for me. I always considered childhood friendships that last into adulthood to be some of the best and most solid and reliable relationships one could have, and that I missed out on big time. After this video, I'm a changed man. Even if it is just one internet video. I guess lifelong friendships are just like any other, shaped by context and circumstance and mutual interest. I graduated from the same high school 2 years before Sarah did. While I didn’t know her closely, it was easy to see how close those three seemingly were. It was a total shock when she went missing and even more so when the police found out who did it. Anthony is absolutely a hero, I can’t even imagine how frightening that whole experience would’ve been. Thank you for covering this case so well

22:31 - That attorney who can stand in front of TV cameras saying that a recording on a video tape taken by a hidden camera KNOWINGLY by the police and the guy taping it is a fake should without blinking an eyelid and actually BELIEVING himself and every word he says should be prosecuted and put in jail. Shame on him.

In this case. I would have preferred to here the judge say: " You shall be taken and hung by your neck, Until dead" Some are saying my English is incorrect and it should be Hanged. Hanged is in the past, which has not happen. Hang is correct in the wording. However, Hung is more dramatic wording for a Court Room. The Point is that this girl lost her life cause of these two. Placing them in jail only means that at some point, the courts have to deal with them again. The people have to pay to keep them there in jail. No one has ever demand to be realist from a coffin that I have ever heard of. Focus on the Girls lost life. She is the Victim.

I always wonder about that. Because I feel like for a lot of narcissistic people, the whole attitude feels like an ego protector. And this is why the public at large, fall victim to people like Sarah's so-called friends. He could have easily broke into her house and taken the money, that's what he says, sure, but the reality is he's a sociopath who wanted to see what it's like to kill someone, clearly no remorse, no empathy, and speaks so cavalier about how he killed, a friend he's known since childhood.
