@@thedoncjg6263 they also didn't explore really anything different outside of what happened in the original. It actually really does follow almost the exact timeline of the original. One of the strangers knocks on the door and starts the confusion, man leaves the house leaving the girl alone, strangers come back and terrorize the girl they then do the exact fakeout where footsteps approach her but its just the bf again, they both then go out to a shed, and get separated and both get captured separately and we know what happens from there. It really is the exact same movie and worse one in my opinion. (Side note I loved Madelaine Petsch's acting despite the boring writing)

I went into the theater thinking this was supposed to be a prequel. I was pretty bummed when i realized it was basically a shot for shot remake of the original with a longer intro. Hopefully the next ones will be better but now that i know they shot all 3 movies within a couple months I wouldn't bet on it. Seems rushed.

yes. The original movie was based on a childhood experience of a series of break in where the robbers i think would check if anyone was home by asking for a random person. if no one answered they would break into the empty house. The killers are the inverse

What makes the strangers scary is also what makes any sequels automatically fail: you can’t tell the audience any background of the strangers so there’s no reason to check out any of the sequels cause the narrative is never pushed forward.

As these masked psychos kill off four visting tourist in Oregon, the last tourist begins to change into a werewolf. Now, the prey becomes the hunter. There's your next sequel right there.

I must say that The Strangers overall franchise is scary to me because of the general premise of a home invasion will always be frightening. The idea of random people stalking outside a home and then break in to terrorize you is tangible as opposed to other thriller/horror plots

Just went and seen this last night with my fiancé and some friends, I have not previously seen the other films and did not have knowledge of previous installments until this video. The survival instincts of the couple is absolutely dreadful, just making all of the opposite choices of what I would do. But, the ambience and feel of the movie itself though was very good to me. I think the “strangers” are what carried this movie. Maybe a 6-6.5/10 in my opinion. Final note: why the heck did Ryan not hop out of his car when he got his leg free and just hop in the ford pick up??? It was the bet option being that it was still on and was a viable running vehicle, and he decided to walk through the foggy woods leaving all sides vulnerable… other than that, decent movie!

I actually yelled at this movie i felt real anger rise up within me. I hate movies that are unrealistically dumb. It can be scary and still have people who have common sense.

I think the only difference between this and the original is that the original what’s good and it wasn’t a film series. Honestly, they didn’t even have to make a remake let alone another remake couple years later. Prey at night was decent. The only good thing about this movie is the actors were already known actors.

I didn’t like how at the beginning of the movie, they hyped this incident as extremely brutal and violent etc. But…. There was nothing more than a stab to each of the main characters lol Overall not a bad movie at all. Horror fans just love to hate on sequels.
