Then on the flip side, great ball striking is more important. Tom Watson didn't hit the ball low and he did ok in The Open...

Great ball striking means you can manipulate trajectory as well. Also during Tom's era hitting the ball low was easier because the balls didn't launch like they do today. Stock 7i and up looked like a knock down by todays standards. Hitting the ball high back then was a challenge, which all the greats could do. I think the video has it backwards. Todays pros can all hit it high, hitting it low and hard is the challenge.
