I love the idea of this ridiculously huge crowd being entertained by three guys on a bare stage with the most rudimentary instruments. The power of performance and great song writing. :)

So right. Was a fan of Mod music, not rockabilly in the 80s, but this is SO good that it transcends musical fashion. 10/10 .

Also no in-ear monitors.. They just do it all on their own hearing, instinct and talent.. Something you just don't see artists/performers do nowadays
@luchadoritoАй бұрын
Pray tell, how are in-ears a bad thing? Musicians finally have the ability to hear themselves and their bandmates in a custom mix that allows for them to perform their best. This was unthinkable from the birth of amplification until a couple years ago. Its some of the greatest innovation of our times that is very specifically aimed at making high quality expression of artistic intent possible

@@luchadoritoit’s not a bad thing, it’s just the lack of them makes it more impressive.

It’s strange that this was so popular in the early 80s when everything was synth and glam metal...
@karel64S4 жыл бұрын
Because it was the early 80's. Glam metal and synth was popular at the mind and late 80'. Anyways, they made good music.
@TheAlvardoc4 жыл бұрын
not really; rock is rock
@ianjones74883 жыл бұрын
I'd say synth was only just becoming popular in the UK around then. They fitted in with the punk attitude of bands like the Clash. Rockabilly had its niche in the UK in the 80s.
@kalebvera18413 жыл бұрын
there was also a retro 50s vibe goin on , you can see it in shows and movies in the 80s like La Bamba
@tnm1403 жыл бұрын
@@kalebvera1841 yea your a little off. The stray cats were very early 80s I was like 8 ,maybe younger, at the time. Labamba was late 80s . . The whole swing thing happened in the mid 90s . And labamba was a retro movie that had nothing to do with swing music???

They had an original look (well, updated look) and a modernized take on old rock n roll. Then BS is a really good guitarist, the others are Really proficient on their instruments. A winning soup!

Kind of a mid-scoop approach, maybe. Glad about the shining Vocals and the almost hi-fi bass, though.

Guitar is mixed fine. Perfect for not muddying the vocals as a rhythm instrument, but comes through fine when soloed.

I remember the first time I heard them. I instantly became a huge fan. I waited on the day of release, for the record store to open to buy Built for speed. I've been a big fan ever since. I never had a chance to see them but did try twice. The first time I was hospitalized and could not go. The second time just an hour before I was going to leave, my wife went into labor. Her due date was a month away. They were wrong on the due date.
