Turn the Page is almost a religious experience. The album in general is one of the most beautifully produced and solid albums from start to finish. Truly breakthrough at the time too, i remember listening to this shit when i was like 16 or 17. UK Hip Hop was kinda first put on the map in the modern era by this album.

First time I heard the streets it was probably 2002? They were performing on top of the pops, the track was ‘don’t mug yourself’ and I won’t lie, I thought it was utter talentless garbage. That was my very first impression. I was 22 I think and a few months later I went backpacking around Australia, living with other British backpackers and this was an album that literally we all had playing 24/7, my mind was changed very quickly. I went from thinking it was utter talentless garbage to utter talented garage. My mind has stayed the same up until today, I’m in my 40s now and the older I get the more I think skinner is a fucking genius. I love listening to this album so much. I sing and write poetry and this album always has been a massive source of inspiration to me too. I don’t know how to make beats, but my mates do and about 17 years ago my mates helped me record a bunch of my poems to beats and do some stuff like this... ok, not as good as skinner but it helped me peraonallly to get shit off my chest creatively regarding my upbringing and addictions. I can’t take my hat off to skinner enough, he’s a fucking legend and this album will be forever close to my heart. He’s right when he says these tunes are bangers, and o reckon in 40 years When I’m in my 80s I’ll still be cracking them out. When he talks about taking pills in clubs and that scene he’s just spot on, “I look at my watch, can’t focus” I smiled so hard when he said that coz he’s right on the money. Anyways, take care lovely people. Much love, I hope you all enjoy this work of art as much as I have. Genius.
