It would be cool if you tried to do one but without the visual. I think only following his directions through audio could give you a lot of creative freedom and it would be fun to see what you thought he was describing vs. what he actually did. It might also be a good comprimise between the viewers who want follow alongs and the ones who want free style painting. This is a fun concept though, makes me want to paint along with you guys. I would definitely watch more!

Yeah, I really like his art, and also really like his videos, but him trying to match his painting with what Bob was painting was kinda painful, especially every time he said it looked bad. Their styles are so different that It just wont match, but like you suggested, just listening will leave him with a lot more room for creativity and his own style.

The commentary is what made this video! You showed that painting isn’t all ‘soft voices and perfection’ a lot of the time it’s flapping and disorganised but you still get a great piece of artwork at the end. 🙂

I think the key to Bob’s detail is tapping just the very ends of the brush rather than punching the canvas with the brush lol

You did make a great painting dude - like genuinely amazing painting. I was watching and while you were beating yourself up and getting frustrated, I was just in awe at how natural the brush strokes were in your hand, you've clearly developed the discipline to get the right strokes. Specifically when you were laying down the field color on top of the center there, it looks great! [Been seriously doing art for a few years now, studied it in college too, constant studies, with only a bit of painting - so I know what I'm sayin' here lmao]

I'm an acrylic person too lol I don't have the patience for oil to dry lmao. I found putting acrylic paint in one of those dollar store palettes with the separate pots for colours, and adding a bit of water to each paint and stirring that together, then using THAT to paint, helps you blend it out a little bit more. I heard gouache has an acrylic/watercolour feel, that might actually be neat to use

I had an idea come to me once you "lit the tree on fire". Try taking a personal piece you weren't too happy with, or one you "just can't seem to finish" and put tape over top of it in select patterns, cover everything in white, follow a Bob Ross episode, and once it's finished, peel off the tape and have your art peek through. Could be interesting, could be terrible. Once you peel the tape you could also paint along the tape line edges and make it seem like one piece is cracking/ripping/bleeding into the other.

It's a process, I know, but dude just creates life out of nothing while I make a few blobs that might look good if you squint real hard. I will say with practice I am getting better though.
