The Striper Blues Journal - Video Log 127 - Xplor Boatworks X13 Walk-Through!

Sports Fans!
There's a lot to this boat and I probably did not do it justice. Not trying to sell anybody anything but if you are interested in knowing about how one old crotchety curmudgeon feels about spending money on a new Xplor Boatworks X13, well...look no further.
I couldn't be happier and I'm just getting used to the boat. More speed, more storage, better handling, WAY fishier than my last boat and just an all around soundly built boat for your folks that are addicted to fishing in skinny water. it is just a BEAST!
Preston and Frankie Marion make one HECK of a boat and they were very understanding and patient with me despite my calling and texting them constantly.
They far exceeded my expectations and I could simply LOVE the boat.
If you are in the market for a flats-style skiff, you'd not be doing your full due diligence if you did not check out Xplor Boatworks in Columbia South Carolina.
Tell them Captain T sent you.

I absolutely love the boat and Frankie and Preston Marion are awesome guys. I'm very happy. My only problem was the ridiculously crowded water in NJ and the stinking jet skis, so I've moved the boat to the Florida Keys.

I have also been interested in this skiff and I'm in Tallahassee, Florida. I have heard some good things about these boats, nothing bad so far from anyone. I have been looking hard at many types of flats skiffs this size. I would feel comfortable saying this boat rigged as is probably pushing 60K to 65K. There is no such thing as a good cheap boat anymore!

My build was more like $88K and worth every penny so far. I put every option I could possibly get and that amount included the trailer. Frankie and Preston Marion (the owners) are great guys and it was a pleasure doing business with them.

What problem were you having with the pro xs? Still have the boat and motor?

Had a problem with the fuel fill as it all turns out. Was getting salt water in the fuel line and cost me a bundle of damage. The actual fix, didn't cost much at all. All good now, still have the boat. Running VERY well! Thanks for asking!

What draft are you seeing on the boat with the 115?

Honestly, I have not been in a situation that I can't handle depth wise. I've had to push of mud flats of 3 to 4 inches but ran the trolling motor in other flats that were under a foot in depth for sure. If I had to peg an actual depth, I'd say 8" or so. I'm not typically in water under a foot. Hope that helps!
