One hit....or in my case, one miss, and you are hooked. Like some deadly addictive drug, maybe more like gambling, you just keep casting thinking....this next cast for sure....I'm gonna break through, this time it will be different......
This is more fun than I've had in some instances even illegally. You are watching LARGE migratory fish, all 80+ pounds or more, rise, eat, jump and just having the time of their lives....all the while you are in a state of adrenaline overload!!! This fish was easily over 100 lb. and looked at me with the disgust and disregard one would give to a small insect. Pre-historic scaly monsters showing themselves and mocking me. How on earth can a mere fisherman resist?!?!?!?
Used the big gear on these animals. ‪@stcroixrodsvideo‬ Mojo HEAVY stick with a ‪@ShimanoNorthAmericaFishing‬ Tranx 301 packed with Power Pro 40 lb. braided line with 60 lb. ‪@fishseaguar‬ fluoro leader. The big lures came our for these guys. ‪@ZManFishingProducts‬ 7" DieZel MinnowZ in Purple Demon rigged on a hefty Chinlocks swim bait hook. A bare hook may have been a better choice for a hook set but the eel grass was thick as hell. You had the cast and MAYBE 2 cranks of the reel before you were completely fouled. This was a game won and lost in maximum 2 to 3 seconds. Cruel yes, but what a RUSH!
Anyhow, like any self-respecting addict, I tell myself I can quit anytime I want....but I'm headed back in a week and a half......
