Well I lived this life, I was just seventeen And this house was built on mama's broken dreams I put it all aside When she looked me in the eye Oh... [Verse 2] And arrest these teachers for what they have read And give all your money to the living dead Like a call girl in her prime Arriving just in time Oh.... [Chorus] I am a sentimental man I try to reach to God with just one hand Rejecting offers to be with you Oh, he does it too Get you by your side A new way to wave goodbye And I'm waiting... My lady! [Verse 3] And I'm redefining what they could not percieve Upon their big arrival and they cheat on three And he took them to his side And no they could not wait to hide [Chorus] I am a sentimental man I try to reach to God with just one hand Rejecting offers to be with you Oh, he does it too Keep you by your side A new way to say goodbye And I'm waiting... My lady! [Verse 4] And I lived this life, I was just seventeen And this house was built on mama's broken dreams I put it all aside And she looked me in the eye Was I gone for too long? 1- this is clearly the strokes. 2- NYC cops n when it started are different songs completely...Nyc cops was on the album released in England w the cover of the models ass n glove but in the American version when it started takes nyc cops spot and they changed the album cover to the blue geometric one.

+Kyle Ligamari The album cover was banned in the US, also they took NYC cops off the album because it was released in 2001 just after 9/11... Wasn't the best time to release an album putting down police that just had to deal with some severe shit going down. Was quite nice of them to take it off the album actually.
@v4Kyle8 жыл бұрын
+Opomax I know that's why they took it off and only The Strokes would be able to replace a gem like NYC Cops w another gem in When it started
@leavingitblank93638 жыл бұрын
The UK cover wasn't banned in the US. It was Julian's decision to change the cover. He found this image of spiraling trajectories of subatomic particle collisions (not the Big Bang -- would love to see a photo of that, ha) and decided to make the change. At least that's his story.
@Opomax8 жыл бұрын
LeavingIt Blank there's a lot of information suggesting that it was banned, I prefer the US cover anyway, that's the vinyl version I bought purposely over the original cover. It doesn't have When It Started on it though. Perhaps I'm wrong and the information floating about is wrong, I'd like to believe Julian as I love him but got to remember he's not a god so until I see some better evidence I'm going to stick to my original view, if you can provide me some I may reconsider, but knowing my strokes love I'll do it myself. Thanks for the info mate, PS the new EP is AMAZING, going to buy on vinyl ASAP.

This will sound like a stretch, but I think it's because of Juliet, like he became more "careful" after he met her, like his music became more polished and less carefree, because he changed from this misunderstood young man to this married guy who found love, you know. His life changed, and so did his music...It's only because he really means what he write. That's why "One Way Trigger" is about settling down while "Last Nite" was about nobody understanding...
