Interpol wouldn't have this success. Interpol and so many others bands, became loved and famous, after that the Strokes created this new "Indie rock" scene. Without the success of The Strokes, the genre wouldn't have this dimension at all. Before The Strokes, the genres that dominated the rock scene was the nu-metal, the rock-rap...Awful genres. The Strokes are synonym of revival of rock music. So yes, without the Strokes, Interpol wouldn't be Interpol.
@malvern99168 жыл бұрын
KERLOND whilst it's undeniable that Interpol's success did rest a little on the indie scene created by The Strokes, the way this video phrased it was as if the Interpol crew formed and became a band because of the strokes - when actually Interpol had much of their debut written before they had even heard of the strokes in 2001.

Great video. I just think it fails not to mention that although the album did not sell what was expected, several of the songs on the album were previously downloaded on Napster, a new phenomenon that changed the way music distribution in the music industry works. I remember the hype around the band (before the album was released) because I had already listened to some songs I downloaded on Napster. At the time there was a rumor that the name of the album Is This It was a joke with the fact that the band was already known before the album reached the shelves of the stores and the question Is This It was about whether the album was really worth anything.

Like Ok Computer it confirmed that innovative rock albums had become a subgenre and that the current "it" rock band could no longer be the face of music.
