My mother was a musicians who specislised in 19th century folk music. She played pretty much any instrument, but preferred obscure ones like the hammer dulcimer. At the same time she was a product of the 60s. A lot of hippie, disco, blues, and rock to come before and practiced by her. Unfortunately my mother and best friend passed when I was 18 in 2012. When I hear songs like this I always think of her. So many meaningful lyrics in a simple melody with a complex harmony. Songs like this always reminds me of my mother so much, and I hope I never forget who brought me to music in the first place.

Voice like a warm hug when he sings that slower bit "so long.." great lyrics as always too. This song particularly helps ease my anxiety and I love what the guitars, bass and drums are doing, it kind of shakes me out of my anxiety & depression and gets me moving. And for that I thank you all, even though I realise you won't see this. Ho hum.

Almost two years since I stumbled upon this video and my life was changed. The song was so amazing, those vocal melodies were awesome and inmensily catchy, the way the guitars interluded and weaved around each other was fantastic, the way the tempo slowed down once that guitar solo hit, the drums just had this bouncy way around them, everything was in perfect unison. It seemed almost orchestral, as though I would never get the song out of my head. Long story short, I found The Strokes.
Love this tune. Makes me nostalgic yet it still feels like a new Strokes song to me, although it's been years since it was released. Time flies.
@RealityBlights12 жыл бұрын
Julian, you and your band has once again touched my soul with this song. I have to say I felt something stir from deep within my very core INSTANTLY. No easy feat, and nothing I've ever heard has so deeply affected me as this song did as soon as the tune began, and then once again when you began to sing. Legendary doesn't begin to describe your talent, both in writing and singing. The repeat button was invented for this song.

I am deeply in love with this song. I tried learning this song on the drums my freshman year, when a lot happened that year. I'm now a sophomore and every time I listen to this song alone, I'm flooded with nothing but sad and happy memories at the same time from last year. I can feel so much emotion being evoked by this song alone. Thank you Strokes for this master piece! :)
