Great video! This definitely convinced me on the vendreads. I still don't like how much it forces you to cut down on going second cards, but the threat and extra advantage it provides is insane. Thanks for showcasing one of my favorite decks.

yeah, there are quite a few issues with the small vendread package. I mainly play them because they do help playing through disruption and keep a lot of the chokepoints safe, mu beta, phul and kinda diviner. But I started playing the engine mainly because of d.d. crow and cycle reader. Only a few hands in dozens of test games could play through them, before the introduction of battlelord into my list. Of course it also has the additional benefit of helping against nibiru, since that can also cause a lot of damage, but its not as bad as d.d. crow. It also has flaws: there is the issue of the space it takes up like you said. 4 cards isnt too bad, but these 4 cards would have been going second or consistency cards otherwise, so there is that. And what I forgot to mention in the video is that battlelord only really works in hands with 2 drytrons or nova. Benten already works with only alpha or zeta, but battlelord doesnt. Thats generally not too poblematic, because seeing 2 is very likely, but in comparison to benten as a starter card, definitely worse. Also it doesnt give you immediate advantage like benten does

I "accidentally" found this Video and Im happy about it haha. My Laptop hang up and I had a hard Time to find it (your Video) again, but worth it. Thank you for your work! I knew about the Battlelord "Engine", have to reconsider but my Vendread Deck is missing his Lord haha I use a weird budget version of Drytron with Herald (Love this Deck) Only "expensive" Cards are Mu Beta Fafnir and Meteonis No Diviner and No Nova And it still does good against my Friends haha I use Phul and Idaten for BAEtrice (Like it very much) (2x Phul 1x Ophiel) Extra-Foolish and "Where Arf Thou?" Natasha is Okay I guess, searchable Ritual/Light Fairy if I need an extra Neg. This Deck can go so much Ways with Ritual Monsters Like the Chaos Maxs for the Troll, Magikey Ritual and many more

Excellent video, but sadly it doesn't come up easily on KZbin search. Didn't believe in the Battlelord til I saw you going ham in the replays through multiple disruptions. Not keen on drawing them, though, as the deck already has lots of Garnet-y Draws and it doesn't fix the problem of losing to Droll but I think that's fair for a deck. You also mentioned that you cut Accesscode in the comments, could you explain why?

Honestly, I cut prosperity to play chaos space. You get vendread earlier and it makes the mill off curious better. You also get the free draw and you can put back benten if it ever gets to that

I would compare chaos space to prep. Because of the draw you cant use prosperity, but they have completely different purposes. So imo the question is should you play both prep and chaos space. Imo you shouldnt, you would brick on the amount of rituals tbh. Prep can add benten and battlelord, instead of only battlelord like space does, which is important since post liov diviner+zeta and benten+alpha/zeta are combo, current format they kinda are, but pretty terrible ones. So you dont really gain much by adding benten directly, so chaos space could be seen as better current format. But I dont think post liov chaos space is better, the draw isnt really needed since you already can setup 4 negate boards and stuff. so it kinda feels like win more, and if curious resolves you usually already are set to go. Putting back benten generally only happens when you get crowed, but thats why battlelord is in there in the first place. Its to protect benten. And post turn 1 benten doesnt matter too much, so it getting crowed then is generally fine.

What are your current thoughts on vendread battlelord? What are your thoughts on soul of purity and light? Is there a reason to play Safford? Please make a new video expressing any new thoughts you may have about this deck. What is your view on idaten and Natasha? Is idaten needed if you play only one meteonis drytron?

Vendread battlelord is still an amazing card. There are quite a few issues with it tho. I said a lot of stuff you can read in the comment section with Robert Farrell. Here are some stuff I would add tho after testing some more, I find it to be not as resilient against crow as I hoped for, since crow on evolution is possibly very deadly. Battlelord gives up a bit of consistency, but wins a lot in playability through handtraps in some hands, few hands do lose to a single interruption tho. It also makes it much more tricky for your opponent on what to hit with handtraps. It basically allows good hands to play through any amount of handtraps, which isnt possible in other variants. I also realized that the best hands are hands where you open diviner, battlelord or Benten(2 out of these 3 or access to them with prep and alpha and so on) and the rest filled with drytron. These can play the best through interruption, best example is the 4 handtrap replay in the video. Where you can see exactly that. Right now I feel like most people only play droll against Drytron. So the Battlelord just isn't really needed. Soul of purity shouldn't be played whatsoever, it's beatrice material you can search off of benten, but the benten searches are too important to waste on it. Idaten in essence does the same, is fodder for natasha and also searchable by prep and alpha. I am not sure what safford is. I do have a new video series planned for drytron, but nothing where i put in as much time in as in this vid. Idaten is definitely not needed even if you play one meteonis. Its basically there to fuel natasha, I think natasha isnt that great anymore since it isnt as free. You generally want to keep benten in your gy and idaten in comparison to benten is not a card that replaces itself, which is why I dont see it favorably, but you do need to play some rituals to make the deck consistent, otherwise your searches with alpha, prep and so on become dead real quick, which leads to you getting vulnerable to handtraps. I personally am not too fond of idaten, I really like how it does give free bodies by trading xyz material of mu beta. So it has some uses, in the end I feel like you are more forced to play it, if your ritual count is too low.

​@@haikvoskerchian2857 Ah, Saffira is too slow, adding stuff in the endphase is just too late, its also not a fairy or machine and not under 2k atk, so doesnt really work together with the fairy or drytron engine. So just not good enough. pre prep is cool I like it. Since it does fullfill a similar role to the vendread variant, I am gonna compare it to that one. It has the same issues as the vendread variant tho. It helps better against handtraps than the vendread, but you have this very vulnerable time frame where you have to trigger dawn and benten in your gy, where you can basically get hit by everything. Also the preprep engine kind of needs you to see benten, if we compare it with the vendrad engine, these are basically the insane hands I have been talking about in the vendread variant where you open benten and battlelord, you dont have to draw any other drytrons in the pre prep variant tho. Also hard drawing dawn or perfection is worse than evolution or battlelord so its a bit more bricky. It is way better against Handtraps than the battlelord variant tho. So again kind of a trade off. I find idaten much more useful in this variant, sicne you have a lot more benten searches free, since you can use double meteonis, because of dawn.

yeah, definitely, idaten loops the ritual spell, and is basically just level modulation, transforming a drytron into a level 6 on the field. But I never felt like I needed a level 6 on the field, instead I needed Benten or access to drytrons, which is basically any ritual to the hand, so idaten doesnt feel useful enough.

Yeah, Phul is a +1. So he does help sometimes in hands with not many combo pieces to gain a bit of advantage here and there. I have been trying to go without him and instead put in a second meteonis which comes up a lot in hands, where zeta doesnt resolve. Since you can mill it with mu beta and add another copy later with diviner
