To give you an idea of Larloch's influence, as a mortal, Szass Tam attempted to raid Warlock's Crypt along with several other Wizards of Thay. He was the only survivor, and ended up making some kind of deal with Larloch, who now both trade magic items with each other to this day. For power, one time Larloch let over 200 lich subordinates freedom to see what they did. Most attempted to destroy Myth Drannor, causing great damage. After the whole event, Larloch came in person to apologize for their actions, and gained respect for Storm Silverhand after she allowed him to look at her Silver Flame.

Mostly, MOSTLY, it's meaningless. The really deep weird stuff comes from A-D&D and 2nd Ed. The 80s and 90s. 3rd 4th and 5th each seem to go more and more out of their way as time goes on to keep away from this part of the lore. They'll carefully splash in some of the weirder bits for flavor, but they aren't going to fully explain it either. A lot of the old stuff is out modeled. D&D, and fantasy in general, went away from that way of thinking. For instance, there's a lot of Spell Jammer stuff on this channel, cause it's a singular weird book in the lore, not much ever built up from it or into it. It kinda just exists as a complicated rule mechanic answer to a question that didn't need one. If the current D&D brought in space travel they'd probably scrap it and start from scratch. Starting with the name. That's a very 1970s 1980s name. Ravenloft and Eberron have been popular since they were introduced back in the day, so they get books. The adventures for Tales from the Yawning Portal sanitized a lot of Greyhawk. Ravnica happened cause.. of course it did. Wizards of the Coast does own D&D after all. And the new one, Wildemount, well, Critical Role is the most popular D&D campaign of all time. So it gets a book, but it mostly seems to be The Forgotten Realms with a few twists. None of them truly push into the weird or outright player destroying. Current D&D seems to be willing to leave almost all the rest behind as cruft.

MrRhexx, do you think you'll ever do a video about immortality in the D&D universe? Like the different ways it's obtained, what are their forms or limits or costs, etc? Ways it could be reversed maybe?
@toko099o4 жыл бұрын
There is a few ways, watch his video (there may be several at this point) on lych's and mummies. Other ways of doing it are carefully worded wish spells, there is a pendent somewhere that does it, some gods can grant it (as a punishment or reward), monks just get it at a certain level (in cannon most will become hermits after a while, or die in a fight), and whatever the DM says happened to make someone immortal. The general rule with it is you need to find a way to ether live without a body, or make your body stop ageing. The idea is that your body with age will stop being able to be healed and the person will die even if the spirit is willing to be revived. If your looking as a non-monk player for a way to make your character immortal I would recommend talking to your DM about ideas that make sense within the story. Not having your character become immortal, but wanting immortality is also a way to go about it. You can also look into binding your sperit to a thing (I recommend something you can carry on you) and just becoming a lynch. If your a DM looking for ways to give immortality, create a crisis that involves a god being at risk of getting killed. Have whatever player(s) who are save the god offered immortality, play up that immortality isn't the best thing possible to happen to a person. You can also just make something up.
@toomuchrandy17314 жыл бұрын
@@toko099o while this is a very neat and elaborately thought out reply game mechanics wise, I meant more lore wise about immortality itself in the DnD universe. Like how dragons are immortal but still die of natural age, like how things can be revived and essentially live forever but their total lifespan is still finite, or like how elves can essentially become the anti lich (forgot its name) and the limitations to what immortality means for different beings. I'm aware of many ways to achieve it, I wanted to know more about the lore of it in total.
@toko099o4 жыл бұрын
@@toomuchrandy1731 he talks about a lot of these things in the videos on the subjects you want. For instance, dragons do die of age it's just they age by the size of their hoard not by time. the reason some things can't be revived indefinitely is that the body still ages and entropy will kick in eventually. Elf's are fey by nature so they are made of more magic then carbon. I don't know what you are talking about with the anti lych thing, my best guess is someone binds their soul to an object and sustain themselves on something. His lych video covers most of the way entropy works in d&d I would start there if you want to dive via videos.
@toomuchrandy17314 жыл бұрын
@@toko099o Well no there is essentially a way for mortal creatures of magic to achieve immortality beyond death of age. Even dragons can achieve this through becoming a Draco lich, elves by bonding with magic of some kind, not an object. Not at all. In fact the elves still keep their natural bodies, and the reason I say anti lich (aside from it just being a place holder name because damn I can't remember), this dorm of elves does in fact live forever like the lich, but it's body supposedly never decays. It just keeps growing older from what I gather. And no, dragons don't age by the size of their hoard. They eat their hoard after they reach the point at which their bodies do actually start to die. Then they have 3 options, only one of which is immortal. That being the Draco lich. If the dragon chooses to eat its hoard it can choose somewhere to bind itself with the natural environment as it dies, kind of enfusing its magic into the landscape. Or it can go to a dragon graveyard and die there. What I actually wanted to learn in this case was the different kind of immortality. Dragons of which are only semi immortal as their body doesn't decay or slow, it's at constant peak condition right up until its about to die. It can choose immortality through lich, or dying or becoming a guardian. Etc. The gods of the DnD universe from what I gather are just existentially eternal. Some of the lesser can be killed and the higher may be trapped, but I don't think there's much able to make their version of immortality vulnerable. A lich will keep aging and rotting away until it becomes a demi lich, pretty much an ever lasting skull. The elven version from what I gather, it's body is immortal as well. Then you have the immortal infusion into objects and such, the list goes on. I want to learn of the different types of immortality , their weaknesses, limitations, etc.

I will make some more powerful creatures like them meant to essentially take on nations and they’ll likely be about CR 33-35. Think Something like Godzilla Earth or something along that line. Also about Tiamat’s Stats, I think that’s probably because it’s just an Avatar, a projection of her power. If she truly manifested her real power, it’d likely be low to mid 40s in CR. Could you do a video on cool or interesting places on the sword coast, including famous places where great creatures live and some basic info on them for a new DM trying to build a campaign
@callamburles30754 жыл бұрын
Go play neverwinter, you’ll get a feel for some locations.
@Eskolol4 жыл бұрын
If you are trying to build a campaign in the sword coast. Google a map of it. And choose one city or town you see on the map. Then go into forgotten realms wiki and search that city or town for some background lore. It is easier if you focus on a small bit of the sword coast at once rather than trying to build the entire thing, because there is a good chance the players will not visit 70% of the places youve built. Tldr. Pick a place or a small region in the sword coast and build from there gradually as your story moves forward. For example I started from phandalin which is a small frontier town in the neverwinter region and im soon expanding to the city of neverwinter for some city adventures. Thats like 1/5 of the sword coast and this campaign has been going on for 3 months now.

So, if we were to rank the BG3 main cast, would they come out high or low? Gale would definitely be high, since he is one of Mystra’a chosen and also contains the orb of karsus Lae’zel, Karlach, and Wyll would probably be ranked fairly medium, since they are mainly melee warriors, with Wyll being a warlock to a not super op patron Astarian would probably be the same difficulty as a normal vampiric spawn, maybe higher. Shadowheart would be pretty high considering her destiny and abilities as either a Sharron or a Selunite.

Why would it specifically ask that it be unconscious if it could do it when he's not. Also, there used to be a 10th level spell called major wish. Also, wish specifically says that the effect has to be roughly on the same tier of power or lower as its main effect of casting any spell of 8th level or lower with no material components (determined by dm tecnically)
