Great vid. Colonist is doing great with their improvements.

First. Phantom you should do a 1v1 viewers video/donation stream, I reckon there would be plenty of viewers.

I like these post game assessments. Reply what worked/didn’t work and alternative decisions without the time pressure in the moment. Also lets you just focus on the game.

This was a great watch! You made all the right decisions at the beginning. This and the last two videos have been amazing too. Its really cool to have watched you progress into one of the top players

I enjoyed this new format to give greater insight on the thought process. Well done.

I am still at the beginning of the video. So to answer your question about city or dev first. When I play OWS strategy in 1v1, ideally I want to have at least two knights in my hand at any time, but I also want city to pop as much as I can. So the question as to what to do first is super tricky, and is for sure a risk to go for a city first. It also depends how blockable are you. In your case, you only have one tile of wheat, so you're super blockable which could lean towards popping. But I think that overall you want a city as soon as possible to pop faster which is the key to your win, although it represents a risk.

Awesome analysis. I just wish it was a longer video! When its 50 minutes im like "hell yeah"

I personally would go 4-8-10 and 5-9-10 around the ore, but that's because i like to be able to move whilst playing 1v1. It sets up nicely for the double play. Not sure what oatpancake was thinking with the first pick. When you have the option for the best wheat/ore you have to take it.

I know it looks really overwhelming but if a few rolls don't go your way, or if your first two devs are VPs I think it looks very different.

That's what I was thinking. He skipped right over the dice stats at the end, which I think would have showed a real impact from the 8s vs 6s. The same setup could go very wrong, as much as this one went very right.
@KryOnTour5 ай бұрын
@@ExestentialCrisis you can see the dice stats @ 18:26 if you pause --> 13x8, 11x6
@Kal-Reegar27 күн бұрын
I don’t think that really matters, early vps can kill most setups. We’re looking at how often the setup wins and it probably does close to 70 or 80%.

I think it would be great if we could somehow play the same board with different starting setups to compare them.

Are the dice balanced in standard 1v1? Otherwise considering past 7s is the classic gamblers fallacy. Every dice roll is an independent event

1v1 Catan uses balanced dice

I disagree with Andrew. You're going to win that game every single time. I think next time, it might be more fun to watch you analyze a closer game where there were crucial decisions rather than you just stream rolling

Not everyday you buy every dev in the deck but one!

Why do you care about how 7s have already rolled? Are you playing balanced dice?
@andrewdong17465 ай бұрын
I actually somewhat favor his setup there. If you get blocked on your 8 wheat early your engine dies, I think you kind of high rolled.

Seems to be a common theme… If i play this set up my first 2 devs are vps opponent gets insta 7 and my wheat is blocked forever
