The struggle is real - D11 pushing 651's

From green operators to wheel spin and getting stuck...651's do move dirt but they are a headache when used for hauling anything but very dry material on level ground. In most cases they can haul wet material as long as they get pushed through it by the d11 but the problem is dumping it!

Good video , that pusher driver needs to adapt to the conditions too ... chase the scraper out of the cut when sticky even flick into 3rd let the scraper leave the blade !

Yep. We are moving dirt with articulated trucks so much slower.

That has to be a pusher blade on that D 11 because otherwise their blade is a much larger and I can't believe them scraper operators didn't know when to pull up the hitch or lock it up in order to get out of that without getting stuck

Kewitt would have fired an operator for not locking the cushion hitch down before he ever put the cutting edge in the cut.

The joys of playing in the mud! =) These drivers have lead foot during the loading sequence. What do you mean by 'green operators'? Thank's for sharing Pushysix®.

It looks like a push blade. It has springs on the bottom to take some of the edge off when hooking up to the 51

Scraper operator made a lot of mistakes, and the pushcat should have pushed him completely out of the cut.

Roughly 45 seconds to fill that first scraper. Seems a very efficient way of moving dirt. How many cubic yards or meters do they hold?

+Awesome Earthmovers 44 cubic yards is caterpillars capacity rating heaped. Yeah it is a fast and efficient way to move dirt under the proper conditions

I worked for Peter Kewitt in 1971, we had 13 651Bs and 2 dd9Gs for push cats. The job was moving 7.5 million yards of shot basalt rock. Everything worked great until the dirt boss decided to use a dd9 and an HD41 to push 1 scraper, and and even that was ok for the first 3 days, and then they ripped the belly out of a scraper. Luckily the cat regional warehouse was only 90 miles away

This is why a tractor/scraper is almost always better anyway. You already need two pieces of equipment when doing this anyway.

A scraper on soft sloppy topsoil is going to spin tires. Nor will it hurt them. I’m sure you’ve spun a few tires clown
