The Subway Between Philadelphia and New Jersey (PATCO) 2022 (4k)

The PATCO (Lindenwold High Speed Line) is a heavy rail line that connects New Jersey to Philadelphia: running underground in Philly, crossing over the Ben Franklin Bridge, through Camden and then a few suburbs in New Jersey above ground. The PATCO reaches speeds of up to 60 miles an hour (in service) and carries around 40,000 daily passengers.

In operation since 1969. The Speed line uses part of a Philly subway line and part of the PRSL right of way. A fast, convenient and way to travel. I use the Speed line frequently. Thanks Tim for sharing😀😀♥️♥️

@1:23 The train is being operated "ATO" Hence why he is standing up and not touching the controls. The train will start and stop at each station at the designated car marker with minimal operator interaction (pressing start on the console). I operate these Budd Trains every day. Great shots!

Really wish PATCO had built all three original lines Moorestown, Kirkwood/Lindenwold, and Woodbury Heights at the outset plus expanded each line deeper into NJ (basically a mirror image of NJTransit into NYC Penn Station). South Jersey heavy rail coverage would have been more complete and would have offered more alternatives the car and bus to get into Center City. WoodCrest Station Park N Ride and the River Line are partial solutions only. Of course, not sure if the BFB could handle the extra crossings so maybe a PATCO tunnel would be needed to offset the extra crossings.

Should be noted - these are the original train cars - recently refurbished and mechanical/systems all rebuilt. I believe they are over 30 years old now.

It's been 17 years since visiting Philadelphia + metro and the SEPTA/PATCO trains; from a distance the PATCO cars look like the Cleveland RAPID cars; nice shot from the bridge where PATCO crosses over I•95 with the SEPTA MFSE Line @749-50

This line was one of the first new transit lines in the 1980's,and it was also unique,in that they had,some old Baldwin-Westinghouse interurban locomotives,for maintenance of way,working,and general purpose rescues! Side note!
