El rap ya se escuchaba desde los 70's pero no se conocía así, se le denominaba música Disco, posteriormente evolucionó a Breakdance desde inicio de los 80's, en la película Xanadu se ven bailarines haciendo el breakdance, en la canción de Last Night a DJ Save Mt Life de Indeep también se nota el acentuado rap o manera de cantar, ya en 1984 se hizo famoso como Breakdance incluso con el baile. A finales de los 80's principios de los 90's se conoció ya como Rap y así pasaron los años hasta el día de hoy como se conoce.
