To me this was the turning point of the entire movie; I was enjoying it before, but this is where it absolutely blew me away. We learn it's not in IRL Egypt at all, but a complete fantasy setting which literalizes all the mythology in an awe-inspiring way; this is also where they sow a lot of seeds that help make the plot actually start to make sense, though there's still a lot that never gets properly spelled out, and you have to put it together yourself from hints and subtext. I still say that the film is not just good but GREAT despite its many flaws, and this scene is without question the high water mark of its quality, rivaled only by the battle against the fire snakes.
