Just love the attention to detail, exquisite design that in my opinion, hasn't aged. If you are serious about making a fast car then you must be serious about safety, a roll bar and four wheel powered discs is a good foundation to build on.

**Hey [Anthony], thanks so much for the kind words!** 🙌 I totally agree-the design of this car is timeless. It’s amazing how even after all these years, it still turns heads and holds up against modern styles. And you’re spot on about safety! A fast car needs a solid foundation, and features like a roll bar and four-wheel discs are crucial to making performance meet practicality. Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks again for the awesome feedback! 😊

Ooops that's front discs and rear drums. Not four wheel disc. Nevertheless the Avanti stopped in 125 feet vs big 3 cars averaging 175-200 feet. HUGE Safety difference. Corvette FINALLY got discs 3 years later in 1965. Rest of big 3 dragged their feet until even later. Big 3 money FIRST, Safety ? they didn't care.

In 1963, the Corvette Sting Ray with fuel injection add 360 horsepower and by 1965 it had 375 horsepower. So even with the supercharger, a street version of a Avanti was no match for a Corvette

There's more to a car than speed.
@vernanderson4358Ай бұрын
Wrong friend. The Avanti R2 runs 100 mph at 14 sec flat at pure stock drags even yet today with a 75 year old engine design. Road tests of the 63-4 era 360-375 fi Vette ran 14.2 at 94 mph. The 65 half year 396 - 425 HP ran 102- 104 MPH at 14 sec flat. Not so fast I would say But the R3 Avanti ran 107 mph at 13.7 seconds same era as the slower Vette. And test magazine hot rod mag stated with more time to test the Avanti would run low 13s at 110 MPH easily. Not to mention that the Avanti top end(158 MPH) R2 was 20 MPH FASTER than the vettes. And the R3 at 178.5 MPH was , 40 mph FASTER than the vettes same years In actuality it was the vettes that couldn't match the Avanti. By 1985 or 25 years LATER the vettes COULD match the Avanti top speeds. But NOT from factory. They were highly highly modified Calloway versions Facts are painful for big 3 people to accept. Believe me I've encountered such a lack of knowledge for the past 62 years. And the R3 Avanti was the ONLY car from 1949-2012 to make the world's fastest stock production car those years. NO Big 3 EVER did so.

**Hey there! Thanks for your insights!** 🙌 You bring up a great point about the Corvette Sting Ray's horsepower figures, especially with the advancements in fuel injection during those years. It’s true that the Corvettes were formidable performers on the street. However, I think it’s interesting to explore how the Avanti, with its unique design and engineering, carved out its own niche in automotive history. The competition between these iconic cars really highlights the innovation happening in the '60s. I appreciate your thoughts on this, and I'd love to hear more about your experiences or insights on the subject. Thanks for being part of the Alberta Classic community! 🚗💨

Ok let's correct the errors. First most erroneous was 4 wheel disc brakes. NO folks 2 front discs rear drums. Second rival fast cars if the 60s? Ooops wrong again. The R2 at 158 mph was 20 mph FASTER than the 63-4-5 Corvettes. BUT the R3 Avanti at 178 MPH was 40 mph FASTER than any era Vette. Third the R1 base Avanti had a140 MPH speedo. The R2 had a 160 speedo. There's more but that's enough for now. Please people who do these videos. As nice as you presented this car, which it deserves, get more facts straight. Personally followed this car from inception in1961 till Today. Currently own Serial # 5305. About 350 from end of production. Finally Studebaker and this car literally brought Detroit outa the dark ages of 40-50s thinking. Decades ahead of the big 3 in every aspect. Standard Avanti about $4500 bucks. Most R2s From factory closer to 5 Gs.

@@Albertaclassic1000 friend I was not criticizing your nice post , just adding clarity on issues presented. For last 63 years I have battled the many errors and misconceptions regarding the Avanti. I am a total sixties car enthusiast, have owned some 40 plus cars of various makes last near 60 years. My faves are Pontiac #2 and Studes # 1. Have ridden in ,driven and owned Studes for 70 of my soon 77 years. Ahs n thanks for your basically fine presentation. The Avanti and Studebaker deserve much more credit. Lastly next time around make sure to mention... That the ONLY manufacturer and car from america to EVER make the world's fastest stock production car between 1949 AND 2012 was the Avanti. NO big 3 ever those years. Thanks
