The block button will work on negating gun fire but the directional arrows is just an indicator of which direction the strike is coming from. If you hit the block key/button it wont stop you from getting hit, you have to time hitting the block key AND pull the mouse or directional thumb on right joystick for console in the direction that the hit is coming from JUST BEFORE you would get hit, not too early. The best way to practice this is at the first medbay after the Warden Boss fight where there are a bunch of large slow weapon Scavengers and its much easier to get the timing down because of how slow their huge hammer is coming. If you didn't block it it will be red, if somewhat blocked it - yellow (and minor damage) and if you successfully blocked it - green. If the enemy is striking you and a small gold shield with red in center is showing those hits CANNOT BE BLOCKED, so dodge out and wait for the 3 strikes or whatever to finish then attack.

I dont get it, the tip when it came up at the very beginning of the game said block along with put the stick in the the direction, when I do it with an enemy I just stop locking in on them 😢

If I remember correctly, you just have to push the stick in the specific direction. Don't press / push it in, that will stop the lockon.

I think if the block is engaged first it stops the right joystick movement (the parry) from losing the lock and moving instead (which will happen when block is released. With block on I can't turn to face enemy when they try and circle me. Also stamina wont regen if the block is on.

I love directional blocking. So much easier to master than Soulsborne blocking and parrying

@@sweetbabycheesus8497 use the Directional Block Sensor implant. It won't tell u when to block, but it'll tell u which direction. Makes it a LOT easier
