The fact that the Battle Dome was one of the only two facilities kid me managed to brute force her way into getting one of the symbols from, I would say yes, it is one of the easiest facilities
@NPCMimic3 ай бұрын
As a kid, my favorite battle facilities were the Dome, Factory and Palace because of how different and fun their formats were. I wasnt very good at any of them, but I had fun renting pokemon from the Factory, and loved the tournament format of the Dome. They function similarly to the Tower in terms of progression method, but the added flair was enough to keep my attention over an endless sea of regular fights

Interesting to see the Palace listed here. Do you still like it, or has your opinion on it changed as the years have gone on?

@@yukihoshikawa I haven't replayed emerald in so long, so I havent made it to the end game to revisit, but i have a feeling i might get bored of it now that I'm older. I remember loving imagining my team that i went on my adventure with taking what they learned from my training and showing off for me that they could win fights on their own. now though, i think not having direct control might lose its charm after a few rounds?

I would love a video about modern game development vs development 20 years ago.. atleast regarding pokemon. The best way to do it is to proably just look at how each game handles the battle tower in each game and the complexity/simplicity of each one.
@yukihoshikawa3 ай бұрын
The Battle Tower is definitely a great example, yeah, since it's present in most of the games. There are definitely other examples that can be looked at as well, even just in passing.

I started the video thinking "wow, that's a surprisingly minimal number of bugs for such a complex facility". By the end, I had to eat those words. You can clearly tell IVs were in their infancy in the generation 3 games.

Since you seem to know about this topic more than me. I NEED HELP! How the hell do I beat the battle facotry in Pokemon Platinum... I've been trying for a whole year now and my best so far has been a streak of 36... usually at this point in the game pokemon become craptacular and any sort of RNG that can happen will happen. I hate this facility because I have no control on what my pokemon have... it's what is served to me and that's it... I've completed all the other facilities that require team bulding but this one is killing me softly.
@yukihoshikawa3 ай бұрын
The Battle Factory is part RNG (the part you seem most familiar with), and part knowing your Pokémon (types, stats, what kind of moves they can get, etc.). The Pokémon you're offered get stronger as your streak grows and grows, but if you swap at every possible opportunity, then you'll get some slightly stronger Pokémon at the start of each round. This means you get rewarded for swapping after every fight, but then you have to make sure you don't throw your team out of whack or get rid of a key piece or anything (for what it's worth, I always try to swap unless all three of my Pokémon are extremely good). About the only other piece of advice I have is to try the two different level modes out. At level 50, the Pokémon might not be fully evolved, have weaker moves, etc., while open level has stronger moves and whatnot. Other than that, unfortunately, it's mostly just making the best with what you're dealt with and knowing how to build a decent team of 3 Pokémon (keep overlapping weaknesses to a minimum, try to have outs for whatever you're facing, general competitive Pokémon knowledge, etc.) Best of luck!

@@yukihoshikawa Ok I have been sincerly doubting this Swaping thing... (and this is us just talking I don't wanna second guess because it was me that came for help) But I've noticed that many times the pokemon you fight during a streak, belong on the previous streak you've beaten... for example while I'm going through streak 2 I might come across an oponnent that has a team of burmy, starly and kriketot... while I'm here using a fearow a quilava and a Seadra ... while the pokemon of battle number 7 are always pokemon from the streak above... I've had streaks where I had to face through 6 battles of pokemon from an inferior category and then get to battle 7 and have literally nothing good to defend myself with.... It makes the swap mechanic not fun not practical to use... but maybe if I swap I'll be rewarded with better pokemon in the following battle? is that it? I'll try it out... Thanks for your help!
@yukihoshikawa3 ай бұрын
@@dramaticScar The benefits from swapping only apply to the 6 Pokémon you choose from at the start of a round, I believe.

As usual, a top notch, well researched video. You never cease to impress me. Two question tho. 1. I’m surprised the game is programmed in English. Even the comments are left in English. I thought for sure they’d all be Japanese. Is that actually the case or is there something I’m missing? 2. 8:02 Was that just a different name you used for this playthrough, or is your name Ammy?
@yukihoshikawa3 ай бұрын
With the first question, the code shown is from the decompilation of Pokémon Emerald by pret. In other words, it's a reconstruction of the game's code in a format that's (relatively) easy to read and manipulate. I assume comments like the one I highlighted in the video were added in by contributors to the project. As for question number 2, that's just a different name I used.

Shame about the BP oddity, otherwise it could've one of the better places to farm the stuff if you say it's one of the easier ones. I'd love to see what's in the woodwork with the other facilities.
@yukihoshikawa3 ай бұрын
At the very least, every single facility maxes out at 15 BP per non-Frontier Brain round, so if you're confident enough to be able to handle the strongest sets and Tucker's gold team, that downside won't really matter.
@chaoticbravealisdair29253 ай бұрын
I suppose the only thing, if you can breezily take on Tucker's gold team, you probably won't need BP for much.

I've read the flags and wow they are whack. Some moves have no flags at all, despite having an easy one to fit in like status, stat raising/lowering... Only two OHKO moves are considered lucky, Counter is lucky but Mirror Coat isn't, Bind and Constrict are considered status moves (but the other trapping moves aren't...?), or how the damaging nevermiss moves aren't ACCURATE (really???)
