Besides all the profits going to GM in America, at one point in time with the Commodore production, they risked losing Australian Government grants for failing to meet the "84% Local Content" rule. Toyota for most years of the Commodore production was 'Number 1' for Australian content, Nissan did well too, then Ford and then Mitsubishi or Holden.

GM never sold off the Holden Name or Brand, so you never know. I’m hoping one day we will see Holden again in Australia 🤞

Will never happen. Besides, the Opel vehicles that 99% of every GMH car is based on have far higher fit and finish quality, more options, engines & engineering. Holden were nought but a badge engineering company from the start until VE1
