The reason Gem had such calming energy was because she wasn't frightened of her snail. Aware of the threat it posed, certainly, but not stressed about it killing her. She went about her normal tasks and just kept a cool head about the whole snail assassin situation, thus allowing others who were nearby to take a moment to realize they could easily avoid their snails by simply staying nearby rather than making risky moves.

I adore that Gem took the chaos snail and instantly adopted it - "Hello, Murderous Creature! You're gonna fit right in on this series. Oh, but let me teach you all about my friends and how to Minecraft!" It's so wholesome and I love it.
