It needs a constant stream of games. Microsoft made the mistake of trying to rely on singular hits. Sony built a library of bestsellers and now they can ride that wave. Nintendo just needs their IPs to deliver the same way they already did. Maybe put a bigger effort on their sports titles because Mario Strikers should be at like 10 millions now but it just sucked.

Yeah, the Zelda series was always pretty popular among Nintendo fans and the critics in general, but aside from titles like Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess, it never was a huge seller, it wasn't until the release of Breath of the Wild that it managed to break into unseen levels of popularity with over 30 million copies sold, and now Tears of the Kingdom has sold over 20 million Don't think Metroid Prime 4 will sell on the same level as BotW or TotK, but if the game manages to be the best in the Prime series and seeing how Dread and the Prime 1 remaster managed to sell well, perhaps MP4 will be the title that will catapult the Metroid series into the mainstream

I'm sure Metroid prime 4 will be on switch 1 this year with a big update for the switch 2 next year. A full open world 3D Mario game will be a launch title for sure, and there's definitely a new, small IP releasing at launch too. But no Mario Kart 9 until a year after switch 2 launches. And gen 10 Pokemon coming out later 2026 will finally be the game most people will like.

No matter how many people insist on it, some people will simply never recognize Tour as a main series entry. Its mobile release, simplistic gameplay, and heavy reuse of old content keeps it from feeling like a legitimate sequel. Regardless, the larger point is we desperately need a new, full size main series entry on console with actual new courses, drivers, mechanics, and everything. The last game of that caliber was in freaking 2014 for crying out loud and we were getting a new game every 3 years before, the series has been suffering an insane drought.

Yeah, Xbox series S can do 4K because it was already 1440p60 native so DLSS can achieve that. I think DLSS can only handle 1440p for a 1080p console. I think if they are having backward compatibility(which is likely), they will keep the game at original frame rate and resolution.

It might output 4k on older titles because even Switch easily renders tons of simpler games to 1080p. New titles will probably aim for 1440p even with DLSS.

it’ll almost certainly be 4K capable in the same way the wii u was 1080p capable, but similar to how wii u games were generally made to run at 720p regardless, i’d imagine most new games for switch 2 will run between 1080p and 1440p, with 4K generally reserved for ports, remasters, next gen updates on switch 1 games, etc.

I would even imagine this time they focus on quantity instead of fidelity with the increased power, open world game can finally run smoothly and have a 3 year dev time. It'll likely be 4k upscaled (likely with DLSS/FSR), not 4k native. You need a pretty beefy gpu even in pc gaming for native 4k 60fps. Doubt it'll be as powerful as PS5 or Series X and even those consoles struggle with 4k in general.

Well, Metroid Dread sold decently for a search-action game and the Metroid Prime remaster seemed to well. If MP4 manages to be a great game and Nintendo gives it a ton of marketing, it perhaps could become a huge seller, not in the range of Pokémon, Animal Crossing or Zelda, but perhaps in the range of 4 or 5 million copies, especially if it arrives of both the Switch and its successor

I think they need a) a BIG thing which appeals to everyone and anyone, like 3D Mario OR Mario Kart, and then b) also something more niche for the long time fans, which would be either Prime 4, Donkey Kong or a 2D Zelda, and c) a really good 3rd party port/multi release to show off the capabilities of the platform a bit, like they did with Skyrim on Switch 1. A nice bonus would be d) something cozy/quirky like your Nintendogs or Tomodachi Life.

Many of these are just "deluxe" or "remastered". Why would we need to buy a completely different game when it literally came from the previous (one of the best selling) Nintendo consoles? It made sense with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe because 1. Wii U didn't sell well. 2. It made actual battle modes. 3. You got the dlc for free. 4. Much more.. HOWEVER, I do like the idea of 3DS games releasing on the Switch / New console. We have no official way of playing them and some of the games were digital only. I also like the Zelda games being there, although I would exclude BOTW and TOTK for obvious reasons. I like the idea of a Zelda Dungeon maker, similar to Link's Awakening Dungeon Maker. (If you want a good dungeon maker, try the "Super Dungeon Maker" indie game. It takes loads of ideas from 2D Zelda and you can place tile by tile, unlike Links Awakening's dungeon rooms.)

That said, Metroid Prime 4 development has been chaotic to say the least, so I won't hold my breath. I could see another Luigi's Mansion as one of the game during the launch year considering how popular the recent title is. the first game was during a time when people expected a Mainline Mario game every console(Super Mario bros.,Mario World and Mario 64) so to see a game like Luigi's Mansion was understandably kind of disappointing. But ever since NLG made the sequels, the series has gotten a lot more popular recently with how good the animations and graphics are in those games, not to mention selling a lot more for a somewhat niche series. As for where they could take it, I imagine them going back to exploring different locations, but instead just Mansions, its different types of places like temples, a western ghost town or maybe even a Island(Don't worry, there's a Mansion in there) with the hub being the hotel you rebuilt from 3.

It’s pure speculation/wish territory, but I really like the mockups people have suggested where the new dock will allow the display to be visible and have a sort of ‘standby mode/always on’ feature. It’s not unprecedented; I imagine tech like Google Home. I’d love to come home and see notifications or activity from my games - heck, bring back the Wii Forecast Channel in a way, have a little Mario reacting to the weather or time of day. It’d be so cute!

If the switch 2 's rumored gimmick is to attach things via magnets, it should bring back streetpass: you are able to carry a small device that collects streetpass data and when u get streetpass, you can attach the device onto the SW2 and the console receives the streetpass data

I think donkey Kong and mario kart combo launch would be a great sell. I think mario kart is the causal fun, mass appeal multiplayer game. Where DK trying to deliver a botw kind of game. 3D Mario launch is long gone since N64, and an open world 3D Mario’s momentum is kinda already half split to bowser’s fury, while maybe much bigger, the underlying mechanics are the same. Where donkey Kong overhaul can probably truly top botw with the last 3D game being ancient. DK is also more mature (avoid the mistake of Wii U) and as widely recognised as breath of the wild at launch. For a causal, a franchise that is not as prevalent now but have memories decades ago can be very fresh.

For Metroid Prime 4 I expect it being a Switch 1 game that will use the more enhanced graphic features for Switch 2, while some of the old Switch games would just get a boost in framerate and resolution. For Zelda I would like to see a remake of Ocarina of Time done in a way that FF7R sorta is by reimagining it, just not confusing and one game.

I doubt Switch 1 games would get performance boosts on Switch 2. Switch 2 would just boot them in a Switch 1 mode like the 3DS boots DS games in a DS mode. The only improvement would be faster load times, but even then it would just be a few seconds faster which would only be good for games whose load times are 3-5 seconds longer than the acceptable time.

I think 3D Mario and Mario Kart are the most likely to be Year 1 killer apps. They're the highest selling, they've been gone the longest, and it would resemble what they did with the Switch to give it instant success by having BotW and Mario Odyssey Year 1. I do think the others are strong choices to be early, but some of them are too niche (Pilotwings, Nintendogs, DK, and sadly, Prime 4) to be killer apps (they may come Year 1 but they probably won't sell enough) and others (like Animal Crossing and Luigi's Mansion) are probably better saved for future years to make sure the Switch 2 has a steady stream of killer apps instead of a feast or famine situation. Also, there probably will be something new. I suspect there's going to be some kind of new party game IP similar to Nintendo Land and 1-2 Switch. Probably not the new IP you're wanting, but it would be one technically.

I'd like to see pixel-remastered versions of Super Mario Bros. 1-3, Lost Levels, and Super Mario World (similar to the first six Final Fantasy games). Definitely would be a killer app. Plus, something similar to the Sega Ages line on the Switch, but with ports/ground-up remakes of System 16, 32, Model 1-3, Saturn, Dreamcast, and NAOMI games.

Way things are going it looks like Metroid 4 will be it’s big launch title. Maybe even the rumoured open world 3D Mario.

a killer app would be their own discord. you can do the same things as in discord but you must have a Nintendo account. It would give plenty of options to everyone while moderating to protect children.

It needs actual voice chat like the current consoles and PC have. My friends don't mind Discord but they would like voice chat. Themes would be nice too heck take something out of the PS4 and PS5 book and be able to use screenshots as a theme. Heck they should add in regular chat as well.

F-ZERO GX 4K, Wii Sports Resort 4K, Cruis'n USA & Cruis'n World & Cruis'n Exotica 4K, Starfox Andromeda or something like that, Wave Race New Tides 4K, Donkey Kong 64 4K Remastered & tons of improvements, Hydro Thunder 4K Remastered - 6a I know it's 3rd party but you need some of those too, Zelda Ocarina of Time 4K Remastered, any Zelda Remastered 4K, Super Mario bros VR, ZELDA VR, a new real Nintendo VR would be nice, Zelda Ocarina of Time VR. I'm speculating my ass off LMFAO!

Pretty sure is Metroid Prime 4 isn’t a killer IP, but should show the power of the switch 2 . And of course will launch a new Mario 3D or a remake to sell units

I feel Nintendo will be going for a sense of massive scope with this upcoming 3D Mario game just like what BOTW did for Zelda... so it very well could be the first open-world entry in the series... so launch the Switch 2 with the most ambitious 3D Mario game to date in March of 2025 @ the earliest, follow up in April with Metroid Prime 4 as a cross-gen release, toss in a new IP or two from Nintendo as well within the launch window (preferably a big multiplayer experience) maybe Monolith Soft's next big JRPG lands in Summer of 2025, and for the holiday a new Mariokart game & Pokemon Legends ZA... but of course that won't be all in year one.. Nintendo will have even more + factor in a slew of third-party games... that's a damn good year...

Prime 4 is a Switch 1 only game. Metroid is not a system seller, with backwards compatibility all 4 Primes will be playable on both Switch 1 and 2, the only cross gen releases they have done was two Zelda games...Twilight Princess and BOTW. Also when Nintendo did those, both versions ran damn near identical. They wouldn't make the newer system version so much better then the older system version cause that creates a divide and screws over half the userbase. The newer version might have slightly better load times or farther draw distance but that's about it.

Unfortunately thing Prime 4 will be midyear or Holiday 2025. I think they'll unveil Galaxy 3 for S2 launch.
