It’s been two years since the Austin, TX heavy rockers decided to take a break, but The Sword are unsheathed once more. With the double release of Conquest of Kingdoms and Chronology 2006-2018, The Sword have complied an extensive and essential collection that celebrates their legacy to date. The career-spanning collections will be released simultaneously, showcasing the far-reaching metal that the band has been known for since forming 15 years ago.
Conquest of Kingdoms, an explosive three-disc vinyl collection of rarities and oddities, offers 30 tracks (16 previously unreleased) and is housed in a triple-gatefold package, including B-sides, oddities and live recordings of fan favorites like “Freya,” “Iron Swan” and “Fire Lances of the Ancient Hyperzephyrians,” as well as cover versions of “Immigrant Song” (Led Zeppelin), “Nasty Dogs and Funky Kings” (ZZ Top), “She” (KISS), “Forever My Queen” (Pentagram) and more. In addition to the standard vinyl release, a limited-edition color variant (1,000 pressings worldwide) will also be available exclusively via TheSwordOfficial.com, CraftRecordings.com, as well as independent retailers. A truncated digital version will also be available.
Chronology 2006-2018 is a three-disc CD compendium, which - in addition to the aforementioned rarities - also includes The Sword’s greatest hits and fan favorites. Distilling the band's complete discography, this collection comprises 52 tracks (12 previously unreleased), including the studio recordings of “Freya,” “Iron Swan,” “Cloak of Feathers” and “Deadly Nightshade.” The set also features expansive new liner notes with contributions from the band, plus Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Mark Morton (Lamb of God) and Neil Fallon (Clutch).

i remember seeing you guys open up for kyuss lives when i was 16, and the story goes like this: i rolled a joint the night before and stuck it in my sock during school, the roach paper busted the paper open leaving weed in my sock in math class. no one had a paper, so that sucked. so my dad dropped me off and i met a dude named nick and his girlfriend, and his girlfriend smoked marb menthols. i bummed one, emptied out the tobacco into the toilet in the bathroom, and filled it up with the weed from the busted joint and lit it up during "how heavy this axe." i passed it to them a couple times, but the pit bumped the poor girl in the back and she dropped the joint! it was still alive, she picked it up again, got bumped again, and the thing was toast. so i ran straight into the pit and the rest of the night was stoned history! later during kyuss' set, nick oliveri threw out a knit alien and i caught it, and i still got it to this day! what a fucking night! needless to say you guys, kyuss, and sleep are the reason why i've got a baritone telecaster and a stack of bass amps!
