My two-year old son loves this guy. He can listen to him for hours. Especially when as my son puts it "Uncle does Fateh". Truly very nice. This is the best Baby Sitter. :-) Thanks DaisyRani331 for posting the video. -Thankful Father

What's sad is that people are so quick to assume that he's Muslim, while this instrument is a huge part of Indian culture, and he is wearing a pagg turban, which is indicative of him being Sikh. Ridiculous stereotypes from ignorance and lack of culture.

Man that is awesome. Anybody know of any good examples of these tabla rhythms. I might be doing some live percussion work for one of my friend's bands in a month, and they asked me to listen to some tabla rhythms and some other Indian rhythms as well, while they play "nagas." Not sure if I'm going to be playing what he's playing or what. Just would like advice or links. I listen to a lot of world music and different styles, so I'm not completely foreign to the feel of it.

Hi, I love traditional style Afghan music...unfortunately many new Afghan musicians adopted typical Iranian type music. I like stuff that sounds tribal with lots of complex tabla rhythms..Can U please refer me to some Afghan musicians...Some songs are so deep,I cry without know full meaning of song,but I'm now looking for something danceable..something that would be played at an "attan" I'm of Colombian descent but love the Afghan food,culture,& people

I love the sound of these drums. I've priced them though and they do seem a bit spendy. Is it because of the metal used in the construction, as opposed to wood?

This guy is playing an musical instrument called Tabla. Tabla has been used in Indian Sub-continent for so many years. Although it is not very popular in the west but is becoming popular. A lot of music stars in the US have used Tabla beats in their albums.

Punjab Classical music and the influence of the tabla is another shining example of how awsome foreign cultures are. Without cultural influence, we wouldnt have such great things as jazz (and for that matter, most music that most people consider American). If someone cant handle the influence of different cultures, then they should probably move to sweden or something.

@jodrummersh you know what's sad is when people forget that the whole purpose of an instrument is to make music, not to turn it into a science experiment. this guy clearly entertained his audience with his MUSIC. might not have conformed to whatever school of indian drumming there might be but he still managed to make MUSIC.
@BrentHutchinson110 жыл бұрын
Can anyone tell me what other instruments are also playing? He's not getting those other sounds (sounds like water in a drum being turned) is that form these drums alone?
@manjivsharma889210 жыл бұрын
if your talking about the resonating sound that's high pitched its from the two small drums called Dayan ( not sure but it sounds like there tune to c# for the one right in front of him and e for the other one. the low pitched resonance is from the big drum called Dagga
