Jiraiya’s death really hit me hard. All his life he felt that he was failure who didn’t accomplish anything in his life. He loved Tsunade with all his heart and felt regret for not being able win her heart, failing to save Orochimaru from his evil path, failing to save the 3rd Hokage and 4th Hokage and not stopping Pain. Jiraiya was not a failure he left behind a legacy of students that have greatly impacted the shinobi world.

Jiraiya was such an iconic character in the series, that it’s pretty shocking they actually killed him off. I think this arc was the turning point in the series because you can tell the author was trying to tell some deep messages with Pain and everything that took place after this.

I was at a loss for words when Jiraya met his end. All those flashbacks from his past and him going all out against Pain, leading up to his last stand was executed well imo. What a legend, Jiraya was.

As a child I almost cried when Jiraya died it's just the way Naruto brings death to follow up with flashbacks and back stories

It's usually hard to make me cry, but watching this when I was in my early 20's, I couldn't resist. And Jiraiya's spirit putting his hand on Naruto's shoulder, that was so heartbreaking and emotional and another way of Jiraiya entrusting his will and letting him know he'll always be with him. From here on, Naruto is going to hit you with more emotional and tragic stories.

This is one of the defining moments in the entire show in my opinion you really feel pain after connecting with theses characters and unlike dragon ball once they are dead for the most part they are dead.

@@Saroku1000which is why Jirayias death hits the hardest; he doesn’t come back. That’s always a pet peeve of mine in anime; the aversion to actually killing characters. I can’t stand when anime’s bring them back or do some other resurrection stuff, it takes away from the gravity of important characters dying when they do that, there’s no stakes. This is why Jirayias death works so well. Hes dead for good and doesn’t come back

Ah...Jiraya's death hurt so much. He's here since the Chuunin exam, gives to Naruto a lot and makes him a grown-up. The strongest Sannin in my opinion left the show but how magnificent was his final battle. We'll miss you hermit of the frogs. So much rain today 🌧

Madison is very intuitive! Not the end of the sadness in Naruto, but one of the saddest moments in Naruto! It’s amazing the impact Jiraiya had on the Ninja world. Mentor to Minato, who’s father of Naruto. Sensei to Nagato who possessed the rinnegan. and the Rinnengan had such an impact on the world. For good and bad. The best Arc, IMO, is about to start. “ This World Shall Know Pain.”

The hand touch on the shoulder, is them leaving this world. My wife’s step dad died from cancer in a bed, in the night. But we all had a sort of goodbye dream very vivid like he came to all of us after he passed. It’s my second time too but I was in tears again…. Especially already seeing all of naruto

what should i comment first here , what!? you guys MISSED A LOT, its a good idea to see this episode again! trust me you will need it! 1) unfortunately guys, Pain haven shown his true power, he was just playing around, infact only 3 of them have shown what they do and not clearly, also the stronger pain is the one that looks like Yahiko,nobady can defeat him one on one! HE is the problem ! the 2nd stronger is the machine guy, he has super strenght and he is very heavy, he broke jirayas hand even in sage mode for god sakes,but he ALSO didnt use his full power either! 2) did you notice when jiraya attack to to the 6 pains , the yahiko Pain upload his arm and the whole rock moved, AND when jiraya atack him previously , he punch him IN SAGE MODE , but PAIN EASILY catch his fist, and yet the first one he blind him with his kick at the start, and the tauros summoning also easily, so WHY???! HOW?? remember this! 3) aaam baris he didnt summon anything to the genjutsu, the bodies stoped moved and fall down but inSIDE the mind they saw this frog prizon and heard jirayas voice, its genjutsu remember, you see things, but in real time, the bodies just fall down and jiraya stub them with the swords! BUT he was able to call one more ''Pain '' earlier that diidt caught in the genjutsu! that guy summon the other 2 and then .. what you saw...! 4) edo tensei summons, have black eyesballs baris NOT white !the center of the eye is the same although! 5) no madison , pain hates and said in the organaization that he wanted to kill orochimaru, remember??! 6) did you guys actually realised that there SIX people now that their eyes are LINKED, NOT three! how can somebody defeat that!?? 7) THE pain inside the frog barrier he had an iron like whip, and yet when he attaked jiraya and pierce his arm and shoulder , it became solid AND STRAIT , it became long extended also , plus berserked the whole target like its was poison or something ! 8) baris let us know your opinion about the new song intro AND what it shows in the clip !that would be fun! 9) everyone almost cry in this episode, we didnt want him to die! damm its such a pity.... 10) naruto felt something but didnt know what it was! oh...... you will, you WILL see how they grieve....in a way, and that is what worried us a lot , he didnt react as always, believe me whats veeeery worried , and with MORE THAN ONE WAY! 11) thats why i told you before, that .. was the first ''pain'' of the akatsuki, now we move until the 2nd where the whole internet CRIED AND WIPPED WILDLY, everybody cried with 2nd! and god helps us all when the time will come for the 3rd ''pain''!!! that's unspeakable ......

There is no comparison of importance of Jiraiya in Naruto's life with Asuma in Shikamaru's. Shikamaru had family, while Jiraiya was the first family like relation Naruto had. It's thousand times more painful than Asuma's death. It's like losing your own grandfather.
