waleska was right, when she said "that was so arijit", it was one of the reason he didn't get selected. trying to sing like arijit he lost the originality. In the audition round judges said the same thing, bring out originality, they wanna listen what he is not like someone.

Usne arijit ka gaana nhi gaya h bro... Shreyas puranik(music director) ka song h, unhone likha h song. arijit ji nd bohot beautifully song gaya h.kabhi gaane ke dhyan se suno to pata chalega ki usne kitna khud se gane ko modify kiya h. He did not copied arijit, he just took the basic vocal notes of the song and sung the way he like and jo ki sunane me bohot achcha lag raha tha.Btw, kisi ka to gaana gaega hi na. Kabhi satranga song to dhyan se dil se suna na to pata chalega ki kya modifivation aur kaha kaha sur change kiye h usne.lekin,wo kehte h na ki sochna h ni bas adha gyan lekar troll karna h. Abhi vo lyricist to h nhi ki, ki khud gana likhega aur khaega. Open your mind and stop being dumb. This time, all the contestants are of pretty high quality I felt. But Subhajit just hits different. Watched this multiple times, teared up every time. Like Shreya said, his voice is infinite and it's a voice for the ages. He reminds me a lot of Kishore Kumar in terms of emotional depth in his singing. Such a rare quality which differentiates legendary singers from great singers. And the bengali part of his mashup is from a folk genre from bengal called bhatiyali, mostly songs by boatmen, which are very metaphorical in nature and has a sense of longing in them. Here the word 'majhi' sung by him in the end literally means sailor.

Guys this was just the audition round…he didn’t win he just got selected for the main show in top 15 also the other guy with him (with whom vishal was singing) also got selected in top 15. That guy who sang “tadap tadap” and the guy who sang “satrangi re” they both also got selected. Main show is going to start from next week.

Subhajit Chakraborty, singer from Kolkata in West Bengal, started with a very old Bengali folk song and then transit to a Hindi song. Actually the Hindi song tune has been adopted from the tune of that Bengali folk song. If you could regularly follow this singer . then you would notice that most of the time he would start with a Bengali song and then will transit to Hindi song . As all such songs Hindi tunes are first sung in Bengali then adopted in Hindi.
