Some trees are dead but still standing... I saw the wildfire at night...wow...monster...evil...red flame in the mountains. Your every single word sink in my heart 9:00 9:33 wow It is older than anybody else....bitter story A banana slug? I have never heard of...huge... You are gifted. well done Mr. Bucket. Bravo.... O yes, we love these big trees! It's amazing to take a hike among the Redwoods!! The forest feels similar to our coastal forest here in WA with many of the same plants and ferns- it's amazing that the Redwoods are so well adapted, and living in this particular region in CA. I believe the abundance of mist/fog from the Pacific Ocean is a big part of why they are growing in that area. Thanks so much for comparing them to the Sequoia trees- they're wonderful and amazing trees too!! I hadn't heard of this grove before- thanks for taking us there!!

The Redwood Trees are such a fascinating and beautiful tree. I prefer them over the Sequoias. I have not traveled the southern part of State Highway 9 so it was nice to see Folton. Twice, I have been on the northern part of 9 and when I was 9 years old we visited this Redwood state park. We lived in the Midwest part of the U.S. at the time and such trees left quite an impression. Thank you for this.

Have you read 'Travels with Charley' by John Steinbeck? John had for some time lived on the East Coast and decided it was time to make a trip home (California.) He was excited to show his dog Charley the Redwood trees. His thought was that nothing must be more impressive to a dog than those. When John and Charley finally made it out to the Redwoods, John took Charley over to one, Charley lifted his leg and peed then walked away but wasn't impressed. I think John was very disappointed.

I sure did, when I was like 15, because I could not find another unread book in the house, and I was not impressed by the book. In my defense, I was a teenager LOL. Have you heard of Dawn Redwoods? I learned of these in an arboretum in Portland. In the 1950s they found fossils of them from tens of millions of years ago all up and down the U.S. West Coast. It was thought they had long been extinct then a small forest of them was discovered in China, close to where Mao grew up. This arboretum in Portland then acquired some seeds and planted them. The result is now a Dawn Redwood that is about 150 feet tall and an amazingly beautiful tree.

Nope, until now LOL... Pretty interesting, at least for me, that they are not native to America but to China..thanks for the info!
