A great topic and variant of Goldfish to talk about. I personally have five of them in my pond. Definitely a fast grower. They will devour just about anything you put in the water. Cleaner water and frequent water changes go a long way towards health and growth. Seen that first hand. Adding minerals(clay) also brings out the colors in them. Give them space as they will utilize every inch exploring and swimming about. Fast goldies too considering their shape. They are compatible with Koi. Mine get along well with one another. I am a bit picky with color patterns and stayed with the traditional reds and whites. Just my preference. I am sure many other options are just as nice.

@@AquaticElements No problem. Most welcome. Here to pass on my experiences and knowledge in helping out others that might wanna try these guys for the first time. I believe this species is still fairly new to most goldie keepers. Most are now becoming aware of them. Definitely a seasonal fish. Here in Canada we recently saw temps drop past -20 C and my group pulled through. Granted a ran a heater in my pond and had protection above surface water they all pulled through to my surprise. So hardy as they come but it comes with proper care in my books and getting them there to handle anything thrown their way. Conditioning if you wanna call it that

I much prefer the long tails, those fish are beautiful. I think it would be a huge pity if fashion means the long tailed varieties are lost. I don’t remember the last time I saw a really good, large veiltail.

Technically, this is a crossbreed between ryunkin and a kohaku koi

I bought 5 of the short tail variety... I prefer these as I don't like to see massive drooping tails once these fish get big and mature but that's just my preference!
