Yes, it makes total sense to me, and I also proposed this theory while GoT was still airing. Because of the "mental" connection between the Targaryens and their dragons, even before their eggs hatches. Remember, parents put a dragon egg in their child bed in order to link their child with their future dragon? So that the child would be their only rider... When female riders gave birth, their dragons felt it. They felt the pain of the labor, and it was well shown in the House of Dragons. When the rider is in trouble, the dragon feels it, like Daenerys surrounded by the sons of the harpy... Drogon was AWOL for a while, but suddenly appears right then, when Daenerys needs him. He felt it. And yes, Daenerys child was born with dragon traits. Some say it could have been caused by the curse practiced by Mirri maz dur, but to me it just added to the details of the mental connection ot the dragon and their riders. Especially after the birth of Raenyra's child, also born with dragon physical traits. Plus, don't forget the Targaryens personality. To me, Daenerys fierceness was not only due to living amid dothraki culture, but her connection to her dragons... and she had 3!!! What if the change in her personality, her new confidence and fierceness, despite her child's death, was due to the strength and the fierceness of her dragons? What if they shared their personality traits with her, through their bond?? Or maybe it awakened dormant traits? What if they made her stronger and fiercer... and more impulsive? She was much more laid-back before their hatching... so what if they have awoken the dormant dragon in her?

That I guess it was more lucky than anything else. Normal people maybe can bond with a dragon but it is a lot harder, Targaryen magic make it more easy. The Targaryen can choose a dragon and have more chance to bond with it than any normal person would have. For exemple we had saw Aemong bonding with Vhagar. She was still mourning the lost of her rider, she did not wanted to be bothered, she did not liked Aemond she was about to burn him however his insistence made her bend. If it were a normal person instead of a Targaryen it would be burned. Daenerys have the luck of hatch her dragons and having a bond with all 3 even if she do not have a rider bond with all 3. However she have 0 knowledge about dragons, that why it is so hard for her to habe some control over them. If just feed a dragon would make it easier too bond the dragon keeprs would have the easiest chance to try bond with one. (They are valirians, speaks high Valirian and take care of the dragons all time.) I think it is ironic when Daenerys says a dragon is not a slave. The magic make than more like a slave than anything else. They obeys their rider, they die for them and we never knew of a dragon who rejected a person after being bonded to it. And we can see it. Using Vhagar as an exemple again, knows Daemon (she was his father and also his wife mount) she had and good or ok relationship with him, she flew with Caraxes many times. Them when Aemong got her all of it was lost. She even died fighting Caraxes... And we do know that dragons except for Cannibel do not like fight and kill each other uselles provoked. But when their human wants it they do. Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal like each other, however I bet if someone bonded with them and wanted to kill Daenerys and drogon they woul try do it for their rider because it is what the rider wants.

When Melisandre talked about King’s blood I think she was specifically talking about Targaryen blood. Robert and Stannis also had Targaryen ancestry.

I would says genetic engineering were going on DNA structuring it happen during the Great Dawn Empire not Valyria. Genetic bond just like skin changing like Starks. Jon Snow is Dayne and Stark.
