I own the "Essential" edition of the Taurus 692 and I will say it is a fantastic revolver. The double-action trigger pull is the smoothest out-of-the-box trigger of all the revolvers I own. The moon clips that come from the factory are okay, but I found better ones by TK Customs which are stamped steel and don't bend as easily. Plus, they're laser etched with the gun's model number so if you have multiple sets for different revolvers, you won't get them mixed up. I also recommend putting the Hogue rubber grips on this gun for a better shooting experience. I don't know if I'd necessarily shell out the cash for the executive grade model, but the standard 692 is a solid revolver for the price.

I hope Taurus is getting better. This was the only gun company that we had to send a revolver back for service that one and a half years later the customer still had not yet received the revolver back repaired or replaced. Never forgot this and will never get one no matter what
@Predator42ID23 күн бұрын
They have long since fixed that issue. I sent a gun back because a part broke, it came back fully fixed. Time from sending to fixing to getting it back took seven days. My other gun took longer as it was a brand-new model. After three months they just sent me a new one. Which according to their Customer service is now standard protocol. Customer service was always Taurus's biggest issue and I'm happy to say they have improved greatly.

I love this idea of a multi caliber revolver that is also easily swappable cylinder. My only qualm about this design is the barrel ports. I think it will compromise the power. Revolvers are already compromised due to the cylinder gap. How much more if there are 8 ports on the barrel? Hope you can prove that this ports doesn’t affect ballistic performance.

@kevinfelton68923 күн бұрын
It's a decent pistol, and I use it for my off duty carry, but it does have quirks mostly when firing 9mm. The moon clips that come with it are garbage. They don't like going into the cylinder, and when they do, the cylinder has trouble rotating. I got some after-market ones, and that helps, but the problem is still there. Also, when I shoot 9mm, I get these semi-circle jacket shavings. I don't have this problem with .357 or .38, so I guess it's something with the 9mm cylinder. Still, it's a good gun with a nice look. Just carry it loaded with .357 and save the 9mm for the range.
@logangodofcandy19 күн бұрын
My gun doesn't have those issues. I usually don't shoot with them, because I prefer loose rounds
@kevinfelton68919 күн бұрын
@logangodofcandy well .357 and .38 are still loose. You only need the moon clips if you're firing the rimless 9mm.

Bought my 1st Taurus revolver this year. A 692. Meh. Cylinder has some slop, inconsistent trigger and POI from chamber to chamber. But it's cheap so how can I get upset. A month later I got the 605 toro. 1st optic ready revolver! Epic failure. Sent it back & was replaced. Sent the replacement back & also replaced. 3rd attempt, 5 months later, and I finally got something "acceptable" and not potentially dangerous. Lifetime warranty is great but unless they work on their turnaround times and start offering a 30 or 60 day money back guarantee I won't be buying another Taurus. No QC to speak of from my experience.

I prefer the older Taurus 85 also. I just bought a Taurus 605. I made it a point to get the old style to match the old-school 85. Plus, the old-school Taurus revolvers work better. They've spent too much time on semiautos that they've forgotten how to make a good revolver.

Who's paying over $1k for a Taurus?!?! The only reason anybody buys a Taurus is because they cant afford a Colt and Smith and Wesson is all sold out.
@dmaxvb23 күн бұрын
No thanks. I love revolvers, but can’t get behind this. I’d trust a G3C over this in so many ways. Smith, Colt, Ruger and some other revolvers are just dead reliable. The Taurus revolvers I’ve owned were prone to malfunction. Except the old ones. Maybe someone will do a 500 round or so review and prove me wrong. Also, check the way grip sharp edges meet the web of your hand during .357 recoil. The fact they left those hard sharp edges, makes me think lack of attention to detail. Isn’t this the guy that said some crap about Paul Harrell a while ago?

Why the stupid moon clips? Charter Arms makes a 9mm revolver with spring loaded tabs on ejector star to hold 9mm round in cylinder chambers? moon clips are stupid and always will be. I have purchased 4 Taurus revolvers this year, but in the 9mm revolver game, Charter Arms has the best 9mm revolver in 2024 so i picked one up last week? So Caleb, I'm a big fan of you and Taurus, please recommend all future Taurus 9mm revolvers be built with similar load and ejection features of the Charter Arms Pit Bull 9mm 2.2" Stainless Steel Revolver? Maybe I’m missing something? … but I have multiple pistols in multiple calibers I don’t see the point of going to the range and shoot 9mm with it then try and carry 38/357 and think that I am doing any good because if u don’t train with 38/357 (u can’t shoot range ammo and expect ur defense ammo in the same caliber and gun to shoot the same if u don’t practice with it also) ur carrying it is useless because it won’t be similar experience even out of the same gun l have shot multiple calibers back to back each one is different even just changing ammo brands with same specs will be different. I don’t shoot 9mm then shoot 38/357, 40, 45, etc and aim and hit in the same groups. Don’t get me wrong I do like this pistol. But u have to train with ur carry load. Just don’t agree with the advice to train with 9 because it is cheaper and then carry 38/357
