Another Testament that Baritone voices hold up way better. Holy Shit Jeff sounds the same as he did 17 years back when this song came out. I remember Brick Cell Phones.

Awesome Canadian band! I've seen them many times in London,Ontario & in their home town of Windsor,Ontario.First time I seen them was in 1995 at the age of 18@The University of Western Ontario & you had to be 19 to get in & there was three of us all under age,two of my buddy's who were 17 & we all had fake I.D.'s lol,& we got in & had a blast watching The Tea Party! Then I seen them @Western Fair grounds in London a few times for a big festival with other great Canadian bands like I Mother Eart

Ya I'm a huge fan of both bands! & I've been fortunate to see both bands live many times.When I was in high school in the mid 90's I use to catch The Tea Party in London,Ontario many times playing@The University of Western & Western fair grounds.Got to see Type O- in London also for my first time on Jan.28/1997@The Embassy Hotel & it's a hole in the ground with a very small stage & only held 400 people & I got tickets very last minute as only 3 tickets were left & that show changed my life.

Only if you view it within the context of what's "popular" within the United States. These guys are still revered Down Under, for example, in a way that not many American bands from the last couple decades have been. I agree that they're "underrated" in the America the further you get from the border states, but, they did at least have their 15 minutes in the U.S. between '93-'97. But, to your point, I was disapponted Rush didn't take them on the road with them over the last year or so.

I think the slower playing is to facilitate breathing & singing on pitch, something apparently not easy on this song for Jeff. But I'd like to hear it more like studio tempo of course, more exciting!

The tea party were never before their time. Radiohead overshadowed Transmission with OK computer and smashed it. The TP were exactly where they should’ve been.
@oliviathompson99373 жыл бұрын
Radiohead is not comparable to the Tea Party. Two different sounds. Radiohead is amazing, don’t get me wrong, OK Computer is a phenomenal album. But they aren’t comparable. The Tea Party hold their own.

Great to see them back, but if they can't write songs in the style of the first 2 albums and the EP, I would rather they not release new material. Everything from Transmission and up was a mess. I was so shocked that they went all "industrial" as was the trend at the time.

@Choochootrain19979 жыл бұрын
+Coldacre Jeff Martin makes that joke at every Tea Party show. After a while, I think he doesn't even think it's funny anymore. Might just be a time killer while everything is set up for the next song though.

Almost every song from this live recording is played slower than the studio versions. I think that Burrows is playing with a metronome track on this show (his drumming actually sounds like it,he is trying to keep a very specific tempo in all songs) most likely to make sure that the whole show recording ends up having a specific length. If you check bootlegs from other shows of this tour, they are actually playing the songs much faster than on this one.

Sucks that Jeff was drunk and sounded terrible last night.
