The Teacher and the Surgeon

While being treated for breast cancer at UCLA Health, elementary school teacher Heather Hatchman made a pact with her surgeon. If she had a smooth recovery, Farnaz Haji, MD would come speak in front of her classroom. Heather's treatment went well and the two have since become good friends. In fact, Dr. Haji has even become involved in a non-profit Heather started called Vision Young Leaders Academy where she gives students inspiration towards their future.
