I think Marilyn was secure in the fact that people were drawn to her and saw some thing special in her and she played into that but she just didn't know what that thing was or why people were so into her. She was never cocky with all the attention she got, always seemed so humble.
@tigergreg86 жыл бұрын
Funny how we are both watching this so close in time and I find your comment to describe her and her situation very well. She must have been a great friend to many.
@raynaclarke34886 жыл бұрын
tigergreg8 I agree. Im certain she's the type that would have sat down and had a beer with you had you asked, asking questions with those wide eyes, interested in even the most mundane details, no matter who you were. I think she radiated and projected love everywhere she went yet never got as much back and always yearned for it. Such a beautiful tortured soul.

She was cocky at times, but not on film or camera, not to be seen... And here she was just yet discovering herself... Who she was and what her powers were... Also, it was a different time... Women were women... And men were men. There was a care in the world, some sort of decency. I don't mean to take away from your comment or lessen it , bit it just isn't 100% correct.

When Marilyn was speaking about the world opening up she spoke with more enthusiasm than I've ever heard in her voice in an interview. Though I think a lot of the attention she was getting was the wrong kind it must have been a euphoric time for Norma Jeane.

Andrew Brendan I agree, she never looked and sounded as happy as she did in these photos and videos, even if it was a delusion

When she woke up from the delusion later in her life, she realized the harsh truth, glee turned to implicit sadness, sheer smile were replaced with fake ones, shining eyes to downcast eyes.

As beautiful as she was, I feel that photos alone don't really reflect her true appeal. Marilyn tone of voice and the way she spoke, her body language and facial expressions - they added so much more depth to her appeal. That's why her films, videos and audio are so fascinating and she is so appealing . When I read this inteview in LIFE magazine, it was nothing compared to the audio.

@pendragonU2 жыл бұрын
@@rababmed3277 it was dark red like her mother's But after being blonde like most or many children until she was 10-11 y.o. she started experimenting with peroxides to add some light to it at times, however not going all the way blonde until she met Andre de Dienes, her first serious photographer around 1945-46 right after separation from her young husband. But she kept such look only for a few months before changing back to darker tones. Still for a few more years she went by different shades of Strawberry blondes, as Rita and Lucille Ball had done and were highly fashionable then, until her full change into the golden short mane Hollywood transformation, that became almost her own trademark for the rest of the 1950's. By the early 60's she was going into almost albino platinum blondes and a little longer mane less curlier

It's so odd that however Norma Jean spoke about her earlier life after fame, she sounds as if she still did not understand what was happening to her and did just what older adults told her so compliantly thankful they didn't fully ditch her. And that however going over her stuttering, impressively, and after acting speech intensive tutoring before Studios added on it, her ways to speak and inflections are not even truly Angeleno or general Californian, but have that slanted accent like "Okies"... Although, her family had migrated decades earlier from Missouri, Indiana or Virginia, etc. generations before than the Dust Bowl destitute migrants to California. Even her mother or sister did not speak so. And given that she did not grow up with family during most of her childhood, I wonder if it's the "home accent" she acquired when she learned to speak at the Bollanders' boarding home where her mother have entrusted them with her. And where she remained until she was 8 y.o. and her mother felt capable to take her raising her from then, collapsing before a year. And if so, how incredibly had remained with her throughout her whole life. I have heard speak the Bollanders, before but its hard to tell from which part of the US they came from before living in Torrance, California.

"Mortenson" is also the surname on her birth certificate, but she was baptized "Norma Jean Baker" and that's the name she went by as a child, until she got married. Her first wedding announcements even spelled it "Norma Jean" (no extra 'E'). img6.bdbphotos.com/images/orig/3/v/3v7r2cff7wa5ffwr.jpg?skj2io4l

There seems to be lots of confusion whether she was baptized Jean or Jeane. No photo of the certificate of baptism can be found in the net. That link you gave doesn't work. It says "forbidden".
