Great Video. I was in high school when I went on a family vacation at Disney the early 2000's. We went to all Disney Parks Monday - Thursday and Universal Studios on Friday. We rode Back to the Future first and then saw Terminator 2 3-D next. It blew my mind and immediately made me say we wasted 4 days at Disney and wished we spent every day at Universal. In the "making of" this attraction (which was on one of the T2 DVD's, and was twice as long as the attraction itself), James Cameron said the challenges of 3D was to try to make it feel like you're not poking the audience in the eye all the time, while poking your audience in the eye... This probably was the premier 3D attraction in Orlando until Spiderman came along.

The park was incredibly packed and I don't believe they had a single rider line (at least I didn't see one). I used the single rider line for every attraction I rode that day, minus Backdraft, making the day easier than expected. I am also very glad you mentioned the film ran at 40fps as it was incredibly smooth, and I didn't understand why. Now I do. The 3-D was always top notch. It was SUPER sad to see T2 go, it's a great movie franchise, there's a huge muscular body builder as the star, a Harley Davidson Fatboy and a bunch of my friends as the stunt actors. Universal needs more shows & attractions with live actors and stunt people, it's sad every time they close a show. I'm not a huge Jason Bourne fan, but some of my friends that were at T2 were cast in Bourne so I'm, SUPER excited for them. Loved this episode! Definitely gonna share it with my friends that love Arnold/Terminator. Please if you can do an episode on 2005 HHN Icon the Terra Queen, she needs more than just a house. Her Terra Beast I'm sure will want to stretch out & roam the park so the peasants of Terra Cruentus can bow to her as she wakes from her slumber & take her place on the Terra Throne with her Terra Beast. Waiting for the sacrifices of the pure of heart to be sliced & stabbed with the Terra Blade. Her blood runs into the Gorewood tree to feed your Queen!

I think this was the theme park attraction that had the biggest impact on me as a kid and made me love movies. I really liked watching behind the scenes documentaries and special features on DVDs and came to idolise Stan Winston, whose company built the animatronic effects for movies like Aliens, the Terminator movies and Jurassic Park. T2 3-D: Battle Across Time was one of the earlier theme park attractions to emphasise immersing the viewer in the movie while also adding to the story rather than just going over exactly the same plot as the movie in a compressed way. The combination of live actors with a 3D film and practical in-theatre effects was something that was so ground-breaking at the time, and the fact that it was made with the involvement of the original director and cast made it feel such a part of the franchise.
@Buc_Stops_Here3 жыл бұрын
This was the best experience Universal had when it launched. Even near the end it still offered an amazing experience in Orlando. Getting James Cameron involved and the original cast rather than the original plan using stand-ins made it work well. Having a completely new script made it that much better. Unfortunately, with the Fast the Furious that Universal did later - the concept was not very good and the director had no vision on how to make an immersive experience. Scary as it is, this experience when it co-existed with the Fast and the Furious still blew it away - and it was built nearly 20 years previously. Thanks for this history lesson. The closing in Orlando was amazing!

I experienced this awesome show more times then I can remember, from it's heydays to its final year. I will never forget last time I saw it was a few months before it closed, I walked in the queue & literally nobody was there not even cast members, after about 10 minutes or 15 minutes some people started to appear & cast members later appeared, also in the show the actor playing Schwarzenegger didn't come in on the motorcycle he just ran in with the motorcycle sound. I remember i was going in September (about 1 month before closing) but Hurricane Irma came the week I have planned to go, I went back in October for HHN but it was the week after it closed. Great video

I remember this. I had a chance to see this show spring of 1997 and it was amazing.

I was lucky enough to see this a few times back in the 90s as a kid. It was my favorite "ride" at the park.

I remember experiencing the show and being scared by the loud noises. I nearly had a heart attack when the seats dropped. In hindsight it was an impressive show.

Great video! Huge Terminator fan over here (and Arnie fan, in general). This was a really fun experience that will certainly be missed.

I’ve been going to Uni Orlando since I was about 5(I’m now 26) and some of my earliest memories of the park are of this attraction. I’ll never forget how it blew me away and my tiny little brain thought that Arnold was actually in the park and just doing the show all day.
