Great coverage of a great show with some really beautiful cars and bikes. I thought the Anglia with the continental kit was worth the price of admission alone. Thanks for posting.
@oldclassiccarUK2 ай бұрын
Thanks! 👍 Yes the 105E was an unusual sight, I don't think I've ever seen that kit before in the metal. As I think I mentioned in the video, years ago I bought some large-ish, side-on, colour illustrations (prints) of various cars, one was of an Anglia just like the one at this meet.

The Vauxhall Viva was very popular here in Australia ,my sister had one of those Brabham ones they were very hard to get loved the one at that car meet cheers

Another great one, Richard! the Stag at 24:00 was gorgeous. I, too, prefer the hardtop. It really does visually turn it into a grand tourer. That 3 liter Triumph v8 has one of the best exhaust notes ever.

Glad you enjoyed it! There'll be another video from this venue coming along soon(ish)

Hi Rick - what a brilliant show, but I never really got past the Bullnose SAAB 96 2 stroke ! What a gorgeous car. I had one exactly like that as my first car, in 1972 - 3794 VB. Went like a rocket. Oh how I wish I had it today ! Lovely to hear that one on its way out - so many fun memories. Thanks for sharing your day out with us. Take care 🙂
@oldclassiccarUK2 ай бұрын
Yep the SAAB was a definite highlight, iirc I had a chat with the owner in a previous video (perhaps Eccleshall 2023?)

Another great video. They all bring back a lot of youthful memories...71 now. Quite a few of these brands made it too the States but usually badged differently. I'm surprised not to see any Sunbeam Alpines or Talbots. Sorry it took me 3-4 videos to subscribe. Thank you.

I could see a few tantalising glimpses of my car but I guess it is too modern for your viewers. Loved that 1913 Chalmers, I’m sure I have seen that roaring around the Cheshire/Shropshire lanes!

My Dad had a new MK 2 Cortina 1600 Super Automatic in Saluki Bronze in 1968 ,and yeah the Supers all had the chrome trim around the wheel arches. 👍

Thanks! that's a cool car, liked it a lot (don't miss the recent France trip video as we found all sorts of French cars on that trip).

Thanks for making the effort to cover this meet. I thought that first Saab was immaculate, then you continued down the row and they all looked very spiffed. That Austin Victoria was interesting in that the front looked borrowed from an early Audi 80 with the rear almost pure Triumph. What a great night for cars.

Thanks yes it was a civilised gathering, we'll try and get over there again

My brothers neighbour has done exactly the same to his Chrysler 300C with the Bentley badges, completely weird and so obvious. An interesting collection of cars, I would have that1300 GT in a heartbeat. Great North Run here today and the weather is absolutely vile and the roads will be chaotic so a KZbin binge is in order.
@oldclassiccarUK2 ай бұрын
Yep that GT is a rare survivor, it also popped up at an event we went to yesterday. We've knocked today's planned outing on the head due to the weather, we nearly "lost" a camera a while back in similarly wet conditions so I don't fancy repeating that again. Enjoy your YT binge!

excellent event, loved the two triump 2.5 pi, The mark ones look so much better than the mark 2.

I didn't realise they did the PI that early, all the ones I saw were the later shape front end.

My dad had a 1967 Viva HB. By 1974 there were rust holes in the sills that you could put your fist through.

Hi Rick, thank you for a great video you revealed a few cars I have never heard of before brilliant keep them coming 👍 You may be interested in a little storey about my 1967 hb viva. I past my driving test in my dads hillman hunter and at the time he didn't want to sell it so I went with my dad to view a red 1967 beetle 1500cc 6v. He managed to put me off buying it and I ended up with the HB viva instead, 🙄. Ps I did buy the hillman hunter off my dad later , great car. Cheers Pete.

A great evening meet by all accounts and far too many cars to mention. Just a few stand out ones, the Victoria was a great car also the Jensen C V8 I very much like those. The MK 2 Cortina Super was another gem and by the way not all MK 2's had the chrome trim around the arches and along the sills, I think the 1600 E was one of the others and possibly the Savage but the Savage is a rare car now. Thanks for the video and as my late Mother would say 'do you want some pegs to keep your eyes open?' :-) 👍👍

In 1972 I got a lift home in an ex-works Triumph 2000PI rally car! An exciting journey - and not the sort of car to find up in Newcastle. I can't remember how the owner came by it or if it was rallied.

I'm sure that went (and sounded) very well

The Austin Victoria, in right hand drive and called the Austin Apache, was built and sold in South Africa from around 1971 to around 1977 or 1978. They were quite popular and a common sight on South African roads. Might have been the last ADO16 produced. Not sure why the UK preferred the Allegro over the Apache.
@Phiyedough2 ай бұрын
I was thinking that, it might have sold better than the Allegro.

The answer to would I have a black or red Golf GTI is. I would have a white one!!! In 1986 I owned a white one and it was the best car I ever had. I suspect that the colour had been changed from silver because originally they only came in black, red or silver.
@oldclassiccarUK2 ай бұрын
Or ideally one of each! Thanks for watching

I believe I prefer the front end of the MK-1 Triumph 2000/2500, better than the later ones. It’s much more interesting. And I wonder what would have happened if that Austin Victoria would have been sold, there in the U.K. 21:02, Alfa/ Nissan Cherry: I had the Nissan, but it was called the “Datsun-Nissan 310” in North America. A good little car. Smallish engine, though, for Interstate driving at 65 MPH, sounded like a buzz saw. 📻🙂
