To your question as to why some of the artworks/images have a black and white version : i think the black and white are the supposed "retrieved vintage" material and the colored versions could be the "restored digital" version that the restoration crew did to preserve the material (in-universe) just a theory.

Idk if you’re aware, but this is NOT an ARG, as stated by the creator themselves. This is a personal thing for them that they have created that suddenly blew up in popularity from a singular video. They’ve stated publicity that this story is not an ARG, and that the rules set in place for fanart for their work (as they have that right and this is purely for their joy and their creative outlet), many people broke the rules and have even sold merch stealing the artist’s work. I understand not everyone is aware, so I’m putting it here

It might be important to remember that color TV wasn't assumed to be standard until the late 70s and early 80s. So, for the entirety of the show's run, it would be assumed that the children watching would be seeing the show in black-and-white. While explaining why there are black-and-white versions of the art, I would be interested if there is some sort of symbolism or theme in the idea of filming a bright, colorful show, knowing it will be colorless for most of the viewers.

there's one thing i would like to add here: clown mentioned that the illustrations on the 'about welcome home' page (the one in black) are simply concept artworks and are not to be taken as canon, the same goes for any welcome home-related works by him posted before around 2021-2022 if my memory serves me right so the religious imagery isn't that relevant in the current work we see as of now, and iirc clown has also advised not to correlate anything from welcome home with real-world events such as dates and/or incidents that may hold a negative connotation like a tragedy or crime (one person asked this about the show's premiere date which fell on october 11, 1969; the reason for clown choosing this date was because it was national coming out day)

I have a theory of the women with Julie ; we know they are puppeted by humanis. What if that's her puppeteer? That whatever is happening in the photo is the effect of the void we see.

So the phone has red, dark blue, pink, yellow, and green. From their character in the neighborhood ; we know Wally is red (1), Barnaby is dark blue (2), Julie is pink (3) , Frank is yellow (4) , and finally Poppy is green (5). 6,7,and 8 are likely the same colors as Howdy, Eddie, and Sally. Being aqua, purple, and orange. 9 is likely Home Edit : the color is related to handlers of the puppets

I counted all 53 currently revealed pictures on the Project Home Page, and the most frequently depicted Characters are Frank Frankly(18 of 53), Julie Joyful(16 of 53), Wally Darling(13 of 53) and Eddie Dear(11 of 53) These Four are the Main Characters.

It's funny, because Miss Piggy WAS a Haunted Mansion character the Muppet's Haunted Mansion movie, but it wasn't Constance (look her up for her story) she was Madame Leeota.

the house is a mirror thing my interpretation is that since in the show only wally's house is alive, that means that only wally is alive and aware. this also goes kinda with the bios, only wally's bio is in present tense. also. has anyone try to put colored version of the pictures over black and white? maybe something would stand out? or just go through all the pictures and brighten em or add more contrast or something?

A thing that’s brought up is that Wally can’t frown, so a popular thing with the fandom is that he shows emotions wirh his eyes (his eyes shaking in the ‘do you see me?’??) do with that what you will)

You see a lot of religious themes in welcome home. Wally had cross cufflinks, the sun character's story is reminiscent of the story of Lucifer the fallen angel, and I've not heard anyone else mention this, but the picture of the whole group under the website visitors counter resembles the last supper to me. Idk if that was intentional but eerily similar. Anyways, I'm sure there's more religious themes you could pick up on if you look for them.

That s good theory since the show started on “coming out day” where clown said the characters would discover there sexuality or meaning of life. I could imagine that Wally doesn’t like his friends following a different mindset than his that made him go crazy and try to control the story but it turn into a dark path.

9 and 0 are blacked out on the Rotary Phone so the International Emergency Hotline 999 or 000 Operator can't be reached. The Show might not be taking place in the United States. The Color Images are what the Animators colored, the Black and White is how the Images would look on TV, Color TVs were nowhere as common in the 60, and 70s. Kinda disappointed you don't know your 70s Culture to really investigate the ARG.
