James, check out the documentary Corman's World. Nicholson talks about working on The Terror in it, along with a lot of other actors and directors giving their thoughts on Roger Corman. It's pretty good.
@tonypellock53264 жыл бұрын
On Vivian Kubrick’s “making of the shining” you see Jack Nicholson check mark his lines on his sides. He says he always saw Boris Karloff marking his lines like this and he’s copied him ever since. I guess this might be the film he was talking about, cool.

+Acierer Right. Being a witch, she had made a pact with the devil, so makes complete sense, that she got killed by the lightning. I already got that, as I was like 8 or 9 when I watched the movie. Even my family not being religious at all.

The Boris Karloff scenes would later be used in the 1989 horror satire movie Transylvania Twist, ALSO made by Roger Corman. It's a bit like a low-budget Airplane! sendup of Universal horror flicks, and it's actually pretty funny in parts. In one scene, the main character wanders into a random room in the castle and Boris Karloff is doing his monologuing on the other side of the room, and they edit it together like they're having a conversation. It still makes no sense in context, but it's amazing that even in 89 Corman would not give up on that footage.

I never heard a "Frenchman" speak with a New Jersey accent before. This is one of those movies that if you just go with it and regard it as this Cormanesque attempt to wring every last nickle out of his investment, as well as a nugget from the past starring 2 icons of cinema, it's pretty fun. I have it on BD and watch it twice a year

I think this film is great and had no problem understanding it as it went along for instance the witch was struck by lightning after realizing her entire scheme was based on a lie that backfired on her and as the soldier was forcing her to enter holy ground she cries out "I cannot enter God's house , I have a pact with another!" , backstabbed by Satan maybe that was the Terror, LOL! Witches , ghosts, Gothic castle hauntings and madness it's a classic.

Indeed it is a mishmash. James says the woman is turned into a hawk, but quite clearly from the large head and long swept back pointed wings it is a falcon. In the scene where the guy gets his eyes pecked out, it is a hawk, and looks like a Red-tailed Hawk (or a similar buteo).
