In this video, I go over a few popular trap songs and explain the music theory behind them! I take a look at Sicko Mode by Travis Scott featuring Drake and Drip Too Hard by Lil Baby. There is a lot of good tips on melodies, chords, and rhythm. Let me know what songs you want me to look at next!

I have no idea what music theory is, and I'm planning to learn, but people asked me if I studied, because I make decent songs, I guess, that's what they say, hahaha!

I wish producers (especially on KZbin) would openly encourage others to study theory. So many instances of guys saying "you don't need theory, just make it sound good" or something of the sort aren't helping many of new guys watching "how to trap for beginners" tutorials. Do they know that what generally constitutes as 'good' is theory itself? I hope so, because without it they'll waste so much valuable time fiddling on MIDI keyboards that the idea fades. Learning it accelerated my workflow and helped expand my creativity, definitely recommend to anyone to pick up a book and study, the benefits trump the negatives (if there really is any downside) of studying music theory. Great video!

I really enjoyed the video because I am into music theory and the mechanics of how it is made, which is one of the main reason I watch this channel. I wanted to point out a potential mistake you made with sicko mode: you said the key was Bb major so the first chord progression would be iim9-I which is fairly uncommon. More common would be for the key to be Eb major and the chords to be vim9-V, since vi-V is common in modern music. I didn’t see either an A or an Ab in the song, so either Bb or Eb fits the song. Keep these types of videos coming, and I would like if you talked about the basic functions of chords (though i understand that many people don’t have that knowledge of harmony and you would have to explain it every time you brought it up).
