The Thing About Hearing God’s Voice.

Hands down, this is my favorite topic to talk about, it just excites me. There is so much that I can share through my experience and I’m glad that you highlighted it but I’ll like to share this… 1. As long as we follow God, it is a promise that we will hear his voice. Understanding who you are and whose you belong to, is very important. A parent does not purposefully stop talking to their child. In the same way, God speaks to everyone but when you don’t seek His face, you are not able to discern His voice. 2. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. -John 10:27 ( God knows those who seek His face. We are His children and when a sheep dwells in the pasture, it will know the Shepherd ) we must make a decision daily to ABIDE ( John 15 ) 3. When we have the Word of God in our heart, the Holy Spirit has something to work with. So many times, people just want to hear the voice of God and although there is nothing wrong with that, the voice of God is wrapped in purpose. God speaks whether giving an instruction or reminding us about something but when we don’t seek His face and we are not obedient, what really is the purpose of us wanting to hear His voice? 4. If there's no intimacy with the Holy Spirit, you won't know/hear His voice. Everything and everyone will sound like him. I look at this in this way. Take it that you spend time with your mother and you know her voice. When you go to the market place and your mother calls you, irrespective of how many people are there, you will know your mothers voice because you spend time with her. 5. Do you hold Jesus in your heart? He is the word. The Word is Him. He is inseparable from the Word. God uses people, sermons and different means of speaking to us but they must not become our source. God is the source. For example, you listen to sermons and God uses a man of God to bring the message and now you don’t spend time in the word of God. You have substituted what is supposed to be your resource as your source. 6. God speaks to us in different ways in different seasons but His word never changes so we must stay connected to the source. The word is the plug and when we are not connected, something else has our attention. We must not put God in a compartment on how He should deliver the message. Our responsibility is to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and be obedient to the instruction. 7. The people, music, movies and environment play a very huge role in us even discerning God’s voice. We must be sensitive to the Holy Spirit. Who you surround yourself with is very important because even in those times where you may be struggling to hear the voice of God, God can use the person in your life who seeks after Him to bring forth the message. 8. If we cannot hear God, we must come like a little child asking the Lord to teach us. We don’t always get it right but when you have intimacy with the Father, He will reveal and you will know the heart of the Father. We must pay attention and be sensitive throughout our journeys with God. The word of God is life and without it, you will not know the heart of the author when you are seeking elsewhere. So Profound. Thanks for the episode. 1. I agree that even non believers can hear God's voice, they maybe can't discern or think of it as just a coincidence. 2. Many times. One time God confirmed to me something through a scripture I have never seen again to date. I don't remember it's exact words but it was like a go ahead. Earlier this year God spoke to me about something that would have saved me from the heartbreaks I have now 😂because I assumed ni shetani hakuwa ananitakia mazuri 😭 3. I've been in a similar situation like Natalie, this guy wanted me but said God wanted him to be my mentor (he was so spiritual) n imagine i fell for the trap🙈🙈I was so spiritually naive then but thank God I murifeeed after knowing the intentions😄. 4. On barriers I'll say something I read from Pastor Lorna. There're times you may not hear God because you're always in the company of people, you don't create time for you and God alone.
