Players have kicked from directly in front 10 metres out an missed, say there was a goal there was still enough time for the pies to kick another. North had 2 scoring shots in the last minute and missed. Call it what you want if it was the other way around you'd all change your tunes.

Nobody can blame the umps there, and even though I'm a pies supporter, I wouldn't blame the guy who took the shot. It wasn't a fun final minute to sit and watch and it truly could have gone either way.

There was clearly only 2 things involved in that win for the guys, 1. Believe, and 2. Determination. When they knew they had self-belief and they had the determination to get the job done there was nothing more that needed to be done than let the clock tick. For all the crying, a couple of things. Daicos handballed it. Move on. Everyone up in arms about the 50 against McCreery and sidebottom but not one whisper so far about Stephenson knocking the ball out of Daicos hands while on the mark about 4 minutes prior to that. Also a blatant 50. Norf were also handed a couple of rubbish frees in first half that resulted in goals - most notibly Tristan "swan lake" Xerri.

Collingwood supporter.. That non 50 metre penalty decision howler was yet another example of the sheer ineptitude of the AFL's rule makers. The entire stand the spot booklet of do's and don'ts actually puts umpires and players on the spot with next to no time to get things right or wrong. In this case it was obvious for all of three quarters of a second that both Collingwood defenders were reflexively desperate to prevent the Roo who'd marked the ball playing on. That quickly changed to a question of who should stand the spot. That's where the umpire took control, to end their split second of thinly disguised desire to get away with their also split second block. Common sense dictated the result, but in tandem with the new, lightning fast holding the ball rule, the reasonable expectation was indeed a 50 metre penalty. These idiotic rule changes will, I fear, lead to a premiership win for whichever team benefits from one at the most crucial time. And nobody wants that. Great to see North playing like a finalist again.. good things to come..

Stinkers all game, north were set up with two soft frees in their forward at the start. One for helmet heads dive over the fence. Also watch Daicos get bear hugged without the ball and still manages to get boot to ball. Nobody lost this for the Roos but themselves 54 point lead and they let it go.
