The Three Cs of IIM WAT (Writing Ability Test): Content, Clarity, Concision

Writing Ability Test (WAT) is a very important part of the selection process of all IIMs
To do well in WAT, we need to understand the three Cs of good writing:
1. Content
2. Clarity
3. Concision
Content could be generic or it could be technical. Topics such as “Global Warming”, “Problems of overpopulation”, “Social Media and its disadvantages”, “Screen Time and ways by which we can keep it down”, etc are generic topics. You do not need any specialized content for such topics. Using your observations and experiences, you can write well on such topics. Most of the WAT topics are generic.
But occasionally you might get topics that require deeper and technical understanding. Topics such as “cryptocurrencies”, “Cyberwarfare”, “Ukraine Russia conflict” etc need deeper content. You may not be able to write much on these by observations and experiences.
You can collect a wide range of such topics and use resources suggested by ChatGPT to build on your content.
But the other two points are more important: Clarity and Concision, because there are no tools that can help you develop these two things. You need to practice hard to develop clarity and concision in your writing.
