But I think they just know that my confidence isn't coming from nowhere and they just won't take a chance messing with me or my properties. Back when I was in California, the roles were reversed. True gun owners train with their weapon, and hope and pray they never, ever have to use it for real. When it comes to defending myself, my loved ones, and anyone else for that matter, I will use deadly force if I have to. I'm not waiting around to be rescued. Even then, based off very very recent history, do you think you won't be prosecuted for clear cut self defense? Now the real question, do you think you'll be able to raise the amount of money needed if you aren't absolute first page news to everyone pro defense throwing money at you? Would you rather take the high risk of going to jail, or considering that cops are so bad at their jobs to the point they don't stop violent crime right in front of them, would you consider just dropping the body off at a known high gang area? You can say what you want, but statistically it makes more sense because you truly don't have a right to self defense unless you can raise serious money (and even then its still a bigger risk). You shouldn't have to, yet we see sometimes you have to...

It's interesting how police cut back on patrolling communities when gun laws tighten.... I mean you might as well put the scene of crime tape up and right the neighbourhood off..
@JustaGuy_Gaming3 жыл бұрын
Because at the core Police is a business. They chase after crimes that pay, traffic tickets and "drug bust" in where they can seize all the assets of the drug runners. Sell the stuff off or just pocket a few grand. There is nothing but risk of injury and death when being involved in a violent crime. Cops stay as far away from that as possible. As they say when your life is in danger the cops are always 20 minutes away. Run a red light and there right there pen in hand to give you a ticket.

Isn't unregistered gun illegal? So basically pig is a criminal? Or does it works differently in USA?
@aries1442 жыл бұрын
It's different here. We don't register guns because we see enough historical evidence to conclude that any country that does have a gun registry will eventually get a government that will use that registry to confiscate them, shortly before using force against its citizens. This story reminds readers that if they legally build a gun themselves, there is no paper trail for any corrupt official to abuse. We do have records of gun sales that are held by gun dealers in a way that allows police access if a crime is committed, but only if a court orders the records to be accessed. However, the law enforcement group that enforces gun laws, the ATF, has repeatedly violated this law and threatened gun dealers into allowing them to electronically scan these records without a court order. They have stated this is being done to establish a searchable registry- which is specifically against the law. Yet they do it and the courts won't stop them. The ATF tends to accumulate anti gun activists who use their positions to try and force their beliefs on others, you see. It's sad, but human nature is why we can't have nice things, like trustworthy governments. Positions of power always attract narcissists, and narcissists are very good at pushing nice people out of their way. Governments are still a necessary evil, however, so we have laws that are specifically hard to change to frustrate the power hungry. Sadly, not even this can hold narcissists back forever. They hate the laws that limit them, continually try and get away with breaking them, and eventually erode them away. Then, there's a need for revolution to remove the power hungry and reestablish laws to preserve decent people's freedom.

Nice story but they missed the part where the big bad wolves passed an unconstitutional law that kept half the pigs from obtaining firearms to defend themselves. Then made trivial things that harm no one but the pig himself a felony while the other half of the pig population cheered "for reasons."

While prohibition was mostly disastrous, one good thing it did was make alcohol sales strictly cash. Before that, saloons would have the alcoholic sign over his house, and then evict the family when he expired in the gutter.

@@sdgathman you realize it was almost entirely a religious issue. the wives claimed it was ungodly to drink for some honestly questionable reasons (except for when they spent all their money on it thats a reasonable one).

@@robertjensen4541 Having studied the literature of the time extensively, no, it was not religious enough (or they would have recognized, like G. K. Chesterton the moral dangers of Prohibition as similar to those of drunkenness - both enslaving the will to a beverage). Prohibition was driven by the horror and misery of alcoholism deliberately created by saloons (the first hits are discounted or free). The cure was worse than the disease. Similarly, Marxism was driven by the very real horror and misery of the exploitation of the poor by centralized industry (as described in "16 tons"), the same tycoons that brought us Eugenics, government marriage, government schools, and support for Prohibition - all in the quest to obtain functional workers without paying them more. The Marxist cure was far worse than the disease.
