My Jackabee Lucy tried to tell me that I had cancer by jumping straight up, no paws touching me and gently biting me on my left boob... the same exact spot each time. 💞 But I didn't understand what she was doing. Poor Lulu... she was such a good girl. Now when her boy Wiggy bops me on the leg with his cold little nose I say Ohhh nooo, not again 🤭

That kitten picture was by Walter Chandoha. He was *THE* cat & dog photographer from @ 50s-80s. His photos were in books, posters, postcards. I had one of his ”how to photograph” animals books. Look him up to see some of the best cat photos you’ve ever seen. He died only a few years ago.

Hi, it depended on where you lived and what school you went to in the early 60's - at my school we could wear pants. The girls usually only wore them in winter and were usually pull on cords, twill, or stirrup pants that were spandex ( but not tight).

Sterling Holloway on the Uncle Remus record is the voice of Winnie-the-Pooh. Uncle Remus has been deemed offensive and banned by Disney. The Tales of Uncle Remus was written by Joel Chandler Harris of Savannah Ga and includes the story of Br'er Rabbit.

He only lived in Savannah 3 years, and was from Eatonton, just south of Atlanta. Harris was poor, illegitimate and had red hair. He felt stigmatized and unwelcome in white society of the day, and sought out the company of slaves on the plantation on which he worked. He spent a lot of time at their quarters, and listened to the stories told in the oral tradition of the slaves and their African ancestors. Though poor, Harris, influenced and taught by his mother, was highly literate. He valued the folklore and traditions of the slaves, and wanted to preserve those stories. He got a job as a journalist and also began writing the stories he had heard as a separate enterprise. I am sure his intentions were the best; to preserve what he had learned from those people who accepted and made him feel welcome. He did profit considerably from those stories, while no black person did. He, along with Atlanta Constitution owner Henry Grady, wrote articles encouraging racial reconciliation after the end of slavery. Most southerners weren’t at all ready to hear that. Years later, Disney also profited greatly from the Uncle Remus Stories, with no monies donated from them to say, black universities. What is considered offensive, more than content, is the exclusive profit to white people from the stories and traditions of black people. I am a 74 year old white woman who grew up in South Georgia. I have driven through Eatonton many times. There is a sign posted inviting people to see the home of Joel Chandler Harris, supposedly where Uncle Remus was written.

Cross stitch on gingham is known as "chicken scratch". The gold glass bowl is Murano. The ears on the underside are a dead giveaway. For 5 dollars, it's worth is 45 to 65. Picard is French and crazy expensive. That little gold piece is worth around the 30 dollar mark.

I have 2 expensive dollhouses I got from Goodwill for $3.00 each on 1/2 off day,I decorated both of them,one has a Christmas room, decorated with small Hallmark figurine ornaments from Goodwill,I would have used stuff from Hobby lobby,but it's to far from me,I made one room a robot space room,one room a unicorn room,I used Care Bear Domino tiles glued down for the floor in the Care Bear room and Disney Princess Domino's for the Princess room,I glued down Christmas gift cards for the floor in one room,I'm always adding to it as I come across new items I find,I hope your able to come across one you can decorate,a lady bought the same one I have at Goodwill,it looked so plain not decorated,I glued my Grandkids pictures and glued their names using Scrabble tiles.

Hi, looks like a great honey hole, Tfs. Aaron, the dogs are trained to alert people to their human companion for help. Most dogs know before any visible signs of a seizure or other health issues, even before their human is aware they will need assistance.

It is sad that Sterling Holloway is largely forgotten nowadays. He appeared is at lest 100 movies and was on at least 40 TV shows. He also did voice overs and his best known voice was Winny the Pooh. He also stared in one of my favorite episodes of The Andy Griffith Show. This season 2 episode is titled The Merchant of Mayberry. Sterling Holloway played a traveling salesmen Bert Miller who sets up a stand in Mayberry. Andy and Barney help him set up a stand partially to help Bert and partially to aggravate local department store owner Ben Weaver.

I believe Disneyland used the Uncle Reemus stories as the basis for the storyline on their ride splash mountain, which they are now overhauling because of racial ties. The stories originally came from the Deep South told on the plantations. PS I love your style... your whole mid century Florida vibes are on point😃 and yes you should buy things like that mirror for when you have a pop up sale because people will want to buy your style! Enjoyed this shopping voyage with you Jeffrey, Barb and Aaron. The humorous sarcasm bouncing between you three cracks me up. Several neat treasures, but my fave is the very Cool Art Deco vanity tray. The hardware used on the flamingo mirror is indicative of what was popular in the Victorian era homes. Rods were installed high up on each wall, and they suspended all the artwork from the rods at various levels, to avoid holes in the wall. Though I feel it is anything but boring, I agree with Aaron about your flamingo mirror giving off a bit of a foreign vibe. ( : Did you keep or resell it, Jeffrey?
