The time has come. Jake Bates is now a member of the Detroit Lions

The Lions have done it. UFL star kicker Jake Bates has, according to ESPN, agreed on a two year deal with the Detroit Lions. Bates, who is known for hitting 60 yarders with ease at Ford Field, will compete with Mike Badgley and James Turner for the kicking job. It is a job that is in flux every year for the Lions it seems. Bates was All-UFL after making 17 field goals during the season for the Panthers. In addition, should the Lions entertain bringing back Adrian Martinez? Jake Bates was 17 for 22. He was 11-12 of kicks that were under 49 yards, 2-5 for 50 + yards (one was blocked), and was 4-5 for field goals of 60+ yards.

Translates? What can be different? Kicking setup and rules are the same for NFL and UFL. Goal posts are same distance. He plays in ford field already lol. What's there to translate? More fans?

@@Cardbordhero The worst team in the NFL would destroy the UFL champ. The atmosphere and crowd noise, etc are way different. There is no given when you step in in competition, even at kicker. Kickers bomb out as often as any position.
